Our group of 25 people (family and friends) stayed at this hotel in Early June. The same group has travelled together for a yearly biking trip for almost a decade and has visited numerous countries in Europe and stayed in multiple hotels.
For its service - this hotel has been the worst place our group has stayed at.
The hotel alleged that someone from our group tampered with the smoke alarm. The specific room in question was occupied by three people who stayed in the room for one night after travelling for 14+ hours and checked out the following morning.
For this the hotel has charged us Euro 500.
We followed up immediately after we got an intimation from the hotel about the smoke alarm. We notified them that the room in question was occupied by non-smokers (doctor and a scientist) and that if the smoke alarm was tampered with then it was prior to our group occupying it.
We have been extremely disappointed by the behavior of staff of Hotel MAX70 in Salzburg. We tried our best to resolve this issue by talking directly with the hotel, but they were more accusatory than helpful.
As a follow up we did send a note to the Federal Ministry of Labour and Economy and were notified that "Although the course of action by the hotel is quite an unusual procedure in Austria, they are entitled to do so regarding their general terms and conditions. The only way to proceed further would therefore be to take legal action against the hotel. However, the burden of proof is on you to prove that the smoke detector was already damaged at your arrival. It is up to a judge to decide this, taking into account the facts at hand, and given the lack of counter-evidence (presence of the damage upon your arrival), the chances of success are very low. We are really sorry not to be able to give you better news.".
If you are out of choices and absolutely need to stay at this hotel then make sure that you take pictures of the room before and after you check out. You absolutely don't want to start a vacation with a...
Read moreOur family had a wonderful one-night stay at Hotel Max70 in Salzburg during our road trip, and we couldn’t have been happier with our experience. The hotel was clean, modern, and felt really welcoming from the moment we arrived. The staff were genuinely friendly and made checking in easy, which was a relief after a long drive.
Our room was spacious enough for all of us and had everything we needed—comfortable beds, good air conditioning, and some nice extra touches like complimentary water and apples, which our kid loved. We also really appreciated the on-site parking garage; it was safe and convenient, especially with all our luggage, the elevators straight up to the rooms were helpful. It is worth while to note that that basement parking has option for charging electric cars as well.
In the morning, the breakfast buffet was a real highlight. There was a great variety to choose from (even some gluten-free options), so everyone found something they liked before we hit the road again. I also liked that the hotel’s location was a bit outside the busy city center—it was quiet, but there was a bus stop just outside if we’d had more time to explore.
Overall, Hotel Max70 was perfect for our short stay. It was comfortable, family-friendly, and the staff went out of their way to make us feel at home. We’d definitely stay here again if we’re ever passing...

The room itself was okay. I am writing this with one more night left in our stay and have to say the cleaning staff are sub par at best. We had to find a roll of toilet paper off one of the cleaning carts, because ours was not replaced. The floor hasn't been vacuumed since we arrived. We left a note asking to replace the disposable plates and utensils (that was provided in the room), that was not done. We also asked for the safe to be fixed, that was not done. We informed the front desk and house cleaning staff, only minutes after we got in the room that the safe was not working, we were told that would get fixed within the day. Day 3, and after requesting our safe to be fixed to numerous people, nothing has been done.
Minor thing, but if you do not use sugar in your coffee/tea in your room, there is no sweetener available to you. We went the first couple days and they literally gave us 2 tablets of sweetener. Tried to go this morning and was told that it is only for the restaurant and there is nothing available for guests in rooms. This is literally the first hotel I have ever stayed at, that did not provide a sugar alternative to its guests.
The hotel is within walking distance to a grocery store and numerous...
