Checked into this hotel on the 31st August. We were given our room key and the room was ok. Not big enough for 3 people plus cases etc etc. but we can manage. The safe was closed and we couldn’t use it, so I asked the guy at reception about this and he told me it would be sorted later that day. So we went out for the whole day and into the evening. When we got back to the room the safe was still not opened and still we could not use it. | Now here’s the worst bit. There is a red file in each room with terms and conditions in etc. there was absolutely nothing in that file that mentioned anything about bringing food back to your room or anything like that. So that night I bought a pizza and some chips. Ate them in the room and made no mess whatsoever. Now this gets even worse. It’s absolutely roasting here at the moment so we are having to drink plenty of water to stay hydrated. There is a tiny bin in the room and we did fill it with bottles roughly around 10 bottles. |So this morning I took down the pizza box and chip box in a plastic bag and also took out the tiny bin bag out of the bin and other the empty bottles in. When I got to reception a lady who was cleaning took the rubbish off me and walked away. But then this other lady who said she was a manager then said I will be getting charged. I asked what for and she just said look in your red file. I went back to the room and had a look. Nothing whatsoever in there about rubbish or anything. |So I took the file down to her and she said that’s an old file and was taking it away. At this point she did say I will not now be getting charged, but I was still bemused at what I was gonna be charged for. As she started explaining I said fair enough for the food packaging. But if I’d knew I would have took it out the hotel to a bin in the street, but then she said about the plastic bottles being too many? I could not believe what I was hearing. It’s in the 30s over here. There’s 3 adults in the small room and we need to stay hydrated, she said one or two bottles is acceptable and that’s it. Wow really. I could not believe what she was saying to me at this point. |So I asked about the safe issue. She said we can change rooms. Really so gonna have to pack all our stuff etc etc. I said no it’s not worth it as we are leaving in the morning. But why have they put us in that room to begin with and why when we first checked in we was not offered another room when we first brought it up about the safe. Absolutely disgusting customer service from a so called 4 star hotel. I’ve given a 2 star review simply for its location. That’s it. They could really do with actually thinking about their...
Read moreAlert!! Long and exhaustive review of my personal experience. My experience at Scherer hotel was a complete let down upon arrival itself. When we arrived at hotel, we were initially told that there was no booking with our name whilst other arriving guests were being continuously booked upfront upon arrival. We were told to wait but we were running late for a pre booked sight seeing tour. Upon repeated insistance and showing our booking.com confirmation email they finally accepted to hear us out. We came to know that lady manager had cancelled our confirmed booking just one hour before our arrival to Salzburg by promptly showing us the cancellation email on desk. When I politely presented my apprehension for same and questioned them about this last minute action which was a wrong business practice. She started acting rudely with frown facial expressions and looked down upon us in a xenophobic manner which was very repulsive. The lady manager later turned over to her junior and instructed him to offer us a room with 25% higher tariffs. They knew we can't refuse as we had our sight seeing tour already booked and we needed to urgently keep our bags and catch the tour. I shelled out 168 euros for one night and that to without breakfast. Even if we put a question mark on the hote's business tactics it is very important that we must lodge a strong protest against behavior of filth and hatred that one human being directs at another, we must understand that for a society to function joyfully we must have an all inclusive approach and we should treat everyone with equal respect and be totally unbiased in our approach to all lives. I want future guests to be aware of the poison that they may be exposed to, so that they are well prepared to tackle the situation even if it is a compulsion to stay at Scherer. On the hindsight there is also one west indian gentleman who also works at the reception, he was very kind and sensitive to us and because of his help we could timely make our tour possible, all...
Read moreIn one night, I heard the loud noise came from above which woke me up, about 5min later, I smell very STRONG SMOKE. I put on my clothes immediately and went to the reception. He was also nervous and tried to find where the smoke came from, when the time I got back to my room it was full with strong smoke. It smells like something has burned. I was staying inside a smelly smoky room for an hour couldn't sleep and their rooms are fully booked.
The second day I asked about the situation since l certainly want an apology plus some compensation. And it turns out the person in the reception trying to DENY the fact that there was smoke, saying it could be the smoke from outside or someone smoked. I explained the whole thing again and she just said that she can't help. I was very disappointed with the response, and since then I know that they are trying to pass on with the issue. Today, the day that I checked out, there's no one said a single thing as well, as l expected. I asked for an explanation, the reception's reaction was like she was forced to apologize and didn't mean it at all. She charged everything and said she doesn't know the fact at all and no one has told her. It's such a predictable way that I see that's how the hotel trying to muddle this through. I told her it's such a disappointment for a 4 STAR HOTEL and she said nothing else.
Certainly they are not willing to offer me any discount and compensation. They even charged 26 euros for 3beer and 1 sparkling water. Aside from this all, there were two days that someone was using the key TRIED TO OPEN MY DOOR in the morning, first time without knocking just ran in, and second time was AT 8 Am again, I went out and reception said it's not the one who worked in the hotel. Such a RIDICULOUS way that they handled everything without saying sorry and offering any of...
