Friendly and caring staff…great price. The owner, Anna, is on location and truly is hands-on. Few places can you find the owner helping clear dishes, sweeping the walkways and being part of the team that runs the hotel. The hotel is artisticly decorated with a fun and upbeat vibe. A short walk to the train, just a block from a public spa and a block off the river. (The lobby does close early.) The lobby is also a great place to hang out at night to read or watch a movie on your computer in the cozy nooks. Each room is different from the other. We had three rooms for four nights. If I revisit Salzburg, I’ll stay here again. Staff retention is very high, most working there fur over ten years. This speaks volumes to the family feel you feel as a guest. If I were the owner, I’d be very proud to own this hotel. Finally, you are 200m. From the park where several scenes, stairs and pegasus statue, were filled for The Sound of Music.🎵

Quite a nice hotel in a great location. Mirabell garden is a very short walk, as is the foot bridge that gives you *the* iconic view of Salzburg. Our room was on the ground floor, and was spacious, plenty of headroom (it looks like top floor rooms have issues there), and had a nicely remodeled bathroom with a great shower. It only lacked a refrigerator. The breakfast buffet is very good, and the staff friendly and helpful. Oh, and don't sweat the lack of pool/sauna. The Paracelus Bad and wellness center is literally 100m away, and far better than nearly any hotel facility.

Hotel Villa Carlton was a pleasant place to stay in. Check in was a breeze, hotel stall were very pleasant, lobby looks beautiful, breakfast area spacious and kitchen staff makes you omelettes on demand. I think my room is #17 on Lvl 2, bed was comfy enough, showering bathtub, clean and quiet. I kinda underestimated the walking distance between the hotel and the town centre/tourist area so it was quite a long walk in winter. Might be better in other seasons though!

🚨🚨 What an absolute nightmare this place is..the fact they are considered a 4 star hotel is very shocking and disturbing..The story begins with my wife and I being on our honeymoon we decided to do 7 countries in 3 weeks..this was all booked ahead of time and with enough time to have no mishaps at all..now nothing is perfect we understand this but from what we experienced was just appalling..we had gotten into Salzburg at around 1:30am they knew we were going to be a late check in and when we arrived the entire place was shut down and locked with a security lock gate so you could not access inside period..there is a teeny tiny note on the door saying if you cannot gain entry to go to the back parking garage (which was not a garage) but instead a little lot with like 3 cars there. The back door was also locked which had a keypad and a lock box and that door had a note that said if you have problems with that door to call the number that was posted..so my wife upset and crying called the number and a man answered very rudely to start with and was very short with what he had to say to her..he answered said hello why are you calling?..she replied that we had arrived and couldn't gain access to the hotel he then asked if we went to the back and she said yes. He then tells her to punch in this code and all that did was open the lockbox and it had 1 key card in it. He then tells her that's the card to open the back door and then hangs up on her..no help with our luggage just the room number written on the card just go find your room and drag your luggage in yourself..we never got an invoice or email about any of their procedures or anything as to how to gain access to the hotel which if this is how you run your place you should inform your guests to how you do things..we finally got to our room and that was a disaster as well..A very very small room I'm only 5'10" but these rooms looked like they were designed for hobbits as to how slanted and low the ceilings are..the door only had a push button for a security lock which in my opinion is not very secure at all..we did not sleep well that night as we kept hearing people in the hall and the fact that they kept trying to gain entry to our door throughout the night..in the morning I had done some research and found all the horrible reviews and stories about this place and that's when I looked at what other places were available..I had found that the hotel Sheraton Grand Salzburg was a two minute walk around the corner from us so we booked a room there got our luggage and left since we didn't even unpack because of the very bad and poor treatment we received at the Villa Carlton and as we proceeded out the door the woman behind the counter just stared at us..didn't even wonder why we were leaving or said a word to us just stared at us as we left..I would not recommend this place to anyone and would tell them to instead go to the Sheraton Grand Salzburg as their doors are always open had staff on hand that helped with our luggage had the friendliest staff and made the rest of our stay in Salzburg a very enjoyable time. So thank you Sheraton Grand Salzburg for such an amazing stay and time at your hotel it really made our honeymoon better...if you're considering staying at the Hotel Villa Carlton I urge you not to..If I could rate this place a -1 star I would.. you don't even deserve the 1 star I had to provide to put...

Very disappointed by our stay! The hotel has been recently refurbished: rooms are nice but not at the level of a four stars hotel as it pretends to be. No frigo bar, no air conditioning, no noise proof windows which should have to be a must, considering that the rooms are on one of the most busy roads. You can hope to sleep only from three to five a.m otherwise noise is too disturbing. Service is at bottom level, all the personnel had no attention to guests need. The first morning the lady in the breakfast room was upset with us because the reception has not informed her that we would have taken breakfast in the hotel and she was disturbed that she had to prepare some more croissants that were served us after 20 minutes. The next day my son forgot a jacket on the hotel chair, just outside hotel door, we phone to ask to pick it up. When we came back in the hotel after two hours the jacket was still there. They had taken into no consideration our request. Last night I was forced to park outside notwithstanding I inform them that I intended to park inside all nights. The only answer they could give me was the on fb page it was clearly specified that the parking was offered on first-in first-serve basis ! I wish I knew that at my arrival at the receptionist. All in all I would not...

Bit disappointed, this is not a 4 star hotel, there is NOT kettle in the room, not wifi, and even the tv kept freezing, no channel in English apart from CNN, I asked for an iron, they told me they were going to bring it, waited 20min, called again and they said they were too busy to come to the second floor, that it was best if I went to get it, which I had not problem with, but they should've told me that in the first place so I didn't have to wait. Very poor service, and the pillows were so soft , I needed 3 to support my head, air conditioning not working. There is no room in the lobby to sit apart for 3 tables and some chairs that were occupied for some people doing some kind of event, and bar only opens at 6pm, so I was stuck in the room with my husband and 5 years old child for the rest of the evening because we couldn't sit anywhere downstairs even to have a drink because there had an event for 2nights and there were blocking the way to the bar, very disorganized. I don't ever review things or places, but this supposed to be a 4star hotel, the only good thing is location and the room was cleaned. This is my experience only, and I don't think I will ever stay in this...
