Not a fan of writing reviews, but after some days in this hotel I feel like writing one.||||Here is my experience:||||This is a new reovated hotel that according to the team re-opened in December.||||The room we had was big enough and the bed was comfortable. However, there are some points I would like to share with anyone checkin this place:||||1. The hotel is located in an ugly area of Salzburg (don´t expect the beautiful "postcard streets" nearby. It is close to the train station which was full of strange people (mostly in the night) and some grey appartment blocks around.||||2. The team is really nice and you can see they are doing their best. However they seem to be working "to the limit" in many situations (understaff?, maybe).||||3.We had the chance to meet the owner who probably doesn´t have much hotel experience. It happened at the front desk... as we were asking for a place to have dinner, she just kinda pushed us to try the vegetarian restaurant which is located 20m away... , by saying this was the coolest place in town. Problem is, we just wanted something authentic, a typical restaurant for a nice beer and some schnitzel... not a wannabe place (for that we will visit Berlin or Amsterdam soon). The girls at the FO recommended a very nice place we ended up loving.||||4. The parking is very nice, but someone decided not to do a direct connection to the hotel... YES, you have to go out to the street and then walk to the hotel (super nice in a rainy day, and problably cooler in winter). It is 25 Euro extra (which is pricey but ok).||||5. The hotel design its special (not my style) but in general is a new hotel and looks fresh. However, there are details we didn´t understand...||For example: At the bar you have some low tables and beside them, there is a kids playground (like a toy kitchen) that killed the vibe. Having the hotel so much space, we didn´t understand it... looks bad. ||The bar offers some drinks, but no snacks or even some sad chips (come on guys, not even some peanuts?). I love hotel bars... this one wasn´t a cool one.||||6. In their website, you can read about the "spa". However, for around 100 rooms, the "spa" is consisting in 2 saunas, a couple of showers and a chill area that could fitt a 3% of the hotel. In my opinion, this is not a spa, but just a couple of saunas...||They also have a gym, but is very basic (2 people max could train at the same time).||My gf has been following the instagram before our arrival, and we were dissapointed...||||7. On the rooms, we had issues with the air system (it is really loud) and it didn´t work that well during the days we used it... thank god it wasnt that hot, but this could have been an issue (the girls at the FO were super helpful and offered us to move to another room... however, I am sure the ais system noises is also noticeable in other rooms).||There is no mini bar (not an issue really) but also little amenities offered. The soap and shampoo we didn´t like so much...||There are no bathrobes. According to the owner this isn´t enviromental friendly... whoch doesn´t make sense because you can ask for them at the reception (I find it rather cheap tbh).||A tip: some materials are cheap... and taking in consideration the hotel has been open for just a couple of months, it is deteriorating pretty fast in some areas... (you better have a good maintenance team).||||8. Breakfast: I can´t judge it... but for 25 Euro, Salzburg offers several and good options. It is a buffet (no a la carte breakfast, which could argument the high price). ||||In resume, we found that the hotel had a great team which was suffering understaffing in some situations. The hotel itself is new and thats very nice. However, we probably won´t come back, since there are many little hotels in nicer areas and closer to the city...
Read morelet me start with positives.... :( almost nothing Hotel is reasonably new and the bedding was new, therefore the beds and bed linen were still very good. The sauna and sport centre are very very good. The location is very reasonable but close to the main railway station and few strange people are on the street in the evening.
NEGATIVEs... this is where i start...
it seems to be a new hotel but looks more like an expensive boutique backparking. ridiculously overdone with ergonomics and eco feeling, to the extent where there is a clear feeling of big brother watching .... basic things:.. bathroom does not have a lock and is very small, economic shampoo etc.. in liquid form... so there is no normal soap.. the water temperature is variable and not always hot. you need to spend 10 minutes of actually wasting water!! to get the temperature right.. and if you do want to have a hot shower - forget about it.. it s not eco.. though there is hot water in normal tap .. go figure... but that's nothing trust me!!! when the whole hotel goes without hot water at all ??!!!! the hot water system gets broken on boxing day in the evening and services are only restored by the next morning!!!
if that's not enough... forget about air temperature control in your room!!! if you think you are in control ... LOL ... its an eco gimmick!!! the hotel decides whats better for you .. if its winter , it is heating, summer is cooling... and they will decide again what temperature is better for you. The temperature is controlled automatically and remotely. so, you need to talk to reception if you want to lower it or switch off... but again, if you are thinking, you are in luck, forget about it. after a few hours it goes back to default settings and you wake up in sweat again!!! the only suggestion is to open the window in winter... but.. hold your breath.. its quadruple glazing to keep you from the noise of the main street where your hotel is. so, if your room is not facing the courtyard, you wouldn't not be able to sleep anyway the doors in the hallway, some of them fire, close automatically at night, so do not worry when people trying to open them thinking that they are breaking into someone's room everything is on sensors, obviously including lights everywhere. so, if you want to go to the toilet without waking your partner -forget about it - as soon as you open the door and walk in, your friend gets a light flash before you have a chance to close the door... same when you exit.. and suddenly there is no exhaust fan in the bathroom..
wait... you think there is not enough automation... its assumed that you don't need a phone these days or call the reception for anything... so if you are an international tourist!!!! be reading for roaming charges or keep dressing up to go to reception if you have a question or need help!!! the shock beyond belief!!!
High tech you think and and its modern... forget about that as well .. who would be thinking to put basic USB, not to say USB-C , connections... and you even do not hope for an international socket anyway anywhere not even for shaving!!!!
i would probably stop here... but i been holding myself to not going completely public on this... for 5 star hotel charges just because...
Read moreI had great hopes for this property. The design seems modern and its a recent refurb of the property. Their social media presence was also strong. We had booked a 2BR apartment at 550 euros a night for two nights. Upon arrival a few things became apparent. First of all, the area is not super great. It’s quite close to a major traffic area and the central train station. The architecture in the area is pretty grim. Quite noisy as well. The hotel also consist of two buildings and the apartment is in the “non hotel” building. The building is new but already shabby. Floors and walls are already worn after a few months. The apartment itself had a nice layout and the bathrooms were nicely appointed. ||Our main issue was the lack of working airconditioning. Upon arrrival it was a toasty 26c in the apartment. The AC was running but not cooling. We asked the staff to fix it or find an alternative and was met by one of the managers. He proceeded to tell me that it was the level we could expect. He also mentioned that if we drew the curtains it might cool down. Of course it didn’t work and our night temp as 27c!! On the next afternoon someone “fixed it” and now it was a cool 22c. It was pretty obvious that staff didn’t want to call a technician on the day we checked in, and instead of giving a paying customer a working room, they just acted surprised, and still charged full price. I honestly don’t appreciate being lied to, so it soured the stay for me.||Besides from the AC issues, our second issues related to cleaning and maintenance. Upon check-in the rooms were - i’d say - moderately cleaned. There was flies and dead bugs in the room. The kitchen area was obviously dirty. The dishwasher had parts disassembled - which was odd to say the least. The furniture looks nice in photos but are all IKEA quality and is already looking worn. Same with floors. For some reason they chose to go with matte wall paint, which shows every stain imaginable. The bathrooms were somewhat clean. The towels were thin and scratchy, like the toiletpaper. The soaps were all near empty and not replenished during our stay. Robes and some towels were forgotten and i had to go to reception and collect them.||The apartments are oriented towards the courtyard which is nice, but as my wife stated, it looks like they ran out of money when designing it. The courtyard also faces the restaurant area, so you can enjoy the restaurant noise from your balcony.||Altogether i was getting a very strong AirBnB vibe as opposed to a professionally run hotel. Or maybe im just annoyed by not being able to sleep due to the heat. Anyways, i’ll give it a pass next time in Salzburg.||On the positive notes, the beds are very good - firm mattress of good quality and the small kitchen was a...
