Loft Collection Salzburg Mirabell — Local services in Salzburg

We stayed here as a family of six. I would not recommend this “hotel” to families. We did not realize it is not a traditional l hotel but rather apartment style rentals. We had two very hard queen beds and a pull-out sofa. We listed 6 on our reservation but we were not provided enough towels or blankets for that many guests. When we called to ask for more, they told us where to find the linen closet in the building which had a few towels but not enough to cover 6 people for 3 days. We were also not given any wash cloths or hand towels which only made the towel issue more frustrating. There was not a cleaning service which was fine for our 3 nights stay except for the trash can was extremely small and we filled it daily. The kitchenette area was nice but hand soap was not provided at the kitchen sink- only dish soap- and only one thin dish towel. There was a small table with two chairs and 3 TVS that had a good selection of channels. The shower jumped to scalding hot when the toilet was flushed. At least ¼ of the living room was taken up by large floor to ceiling cabinets which we ended up putting our luggage in. They might be useful if you were traveling through Europe with friends and needed separate storage space for one’s things but it was a waste of space for us. The location of the hotel was on the opposite side of the river from most of the main tourist areas. It was a pleasant 20-minute walk back and forth but it definitely would have been more convenient to be on the other side. I had originally reserved a room at their other location in Salzburg but was told there was no space for us there so if we wanted a room it would have to be at the Loft. The Loft Collection is a self-serve hotel with no prior indication that it was a self-serve hotel. We arrived before the normal check-in time but were allowed to put our bags in our room and given key cards. We were not told to come back to complete the check-in process by a certain time nor given any indication it would be a self check-in when we did return. We had to pay for the rooms (again) on the kiosk in the lobby with poorly written instructions just to get into the rooms that held our luggage and passports. The original booking on the room stated my credit card would be charged two days before our stay so paying for the room again didn't sit well. When I called the number on my original confirmation it was answered by someone who was the sole on-site employee at the other Salzburg location. She seemed poorly trained and could be of no help. I will NEVER stay at another Star Hotel and I will tell everyone I know to never stay at one of...
