Deceiving customers and unfriendly attitude

Visited this restaurant and wanted to order Gans Trifft entre as I saw the photo for the dish and looks appealing. I asked the waiter for the Gans trifft entre he pointed to a dish on the menu and did not say anything anymore. I ordered as what he suggested and the dish came back looked different from the picture, only with duck breast. I asked the waiter again as I was confused it didn’t look like the picture and he reassured it’s the same, he said how the food has presented would be different from the picture. As the dish was cooked and I didn’t want to waste food so I ate it. I looked up on Instagram and one of the other table who ordered the same dish and both looked completely different as mine. I asked the waiter again before paying the bills, he said it’s the same dish. Apparently they further separate the gans trifft entre into duck breast and duck leg which no one has explained this earlier. Straight after that He said that now I have had the whole dish so they won’t do any refund or do anything and asked me what I want, which I was not even thinking of refund at all. He looked annoyed and asked his colleague to came over to explain again. His colleague said it was the same dish and no refund as the first sentence. I told him I just want to feedback as it was deceiving to have a different picture on poster/menu as the real dish. I told him I just want to suggest either put the real dish look or ask your waiter to explain better in the future. He replied as they are a 100 years old restaurant they don’t do multiple pictures for each dishes and kept repeating they won’t refund. I didn’t know what to feedback as clearly they just want to dismiss customers rather than improving on communicating with customers better. Would not recommend this restaurant unless you want to have a “surprising dish”, not ordering what...

My wife and I joyed another authentic local Austrian dinner. The carrot ginger soup was excellent. Slightly sweet, great carrot taste, and light ginger overtones. The chives made the soup pop. My wife wants me to learn how to make it.

I had the Schweinsbraten. The pork rind with 1/4 inch of fat was cooked to a grilled perfection. This is hard to do, and the chef cooked it, perfectly. The pork itself was tasty, roasted, and seasoned so that all the flavors were balanced and enjoyable. This was my first time for Austrian coleslaw, and I must say, though I don’t know how to make it, it was tasty, accompanies the pork, wonderfully, and is something I would re-order.

My wife had the veal schnitzel with a side of potatoes at the recommendation of the waiter. It was pretty good. The veal retained its moisture with the breading as crispy and firm. The white potatoes, a nice compliment to both her dish and my dish. ☺️

The waiter was very attentive, and very helpful. Though the restaurant was busy, the waiter, was professional, made good recommendations, and assisted as needed.

For an authentic Austrian dish, not something that is easy to find in the United States, we would come here...

I recently had the pleasure of enjoying a delightful lunch at the IMLAUER Restaurant in Salzburg, and I must say the experience was truly exceptional. From the moment I reached out to them for catering arrangements, I was impressed by Emil and his team's dedication to providing excellent service.

The food at IMLAUER is simply amazing. Every dish I tried was bursting with authentic flavors, showcasing the restaurant's commitment to using high-quality, fresh ingredients and preparing each meal with great care. The attention to detail in the culinary presentation was also noteworthy.

What truly sets IMLAUER apart, however, is the exceptional service provided by Emil. He went above and beyond to accommodate my special needs, ensuring the catering arrangements were seamless and stress-free. Emil's passion, dedication, and willingness to go the extra mile made the entire experience memorable.

I highly recommend IMLAUER Restaurant to anyone seeking authentic and delicious Austrian cuisine, accompanied by impeccable service and a genuine commitment to customer satisfaction. This restaurant is a true hidden culinary gem in Salzburg, and I will definitely be returning...

- The reviews mentioned goulash, schnitzel, and Backhendl. To try two of them on my last supper I chose goulash and fried chicken salad for a little balance. Maybe I’ll try Wien Schnitzel in Vienna one day. - Goulash has rich warm flavors. As internet sources say it contains leaner/cheaper cuts of beef than stroganoff and is a soup dish rather than sautéed. The meat and potatoes are all cooked tender. The mellow sweet paprika really stands out from my previous meals. Bread roll is a little dry but I’ve had nicer bread today anyways and I’m eating it with soup. - So, chicken schnitzel XD Really crispy. (Wish you can hear the crunch but it’s a pub) (fun fact: Backhendl predates schnitzel) The crust is nicely seasoned with salt and rosemary etc and not greasy at all. Salad is large and refreshing. - Corner seat with lamp (finally!) Well lit for reading. Nice cozy place for a rainy evening (to skip sky restaurant and its view, which according to the front desk lady is more international). Water is forgotten but the service is otherwise nice. - There is no mention of the October game menu though. (Maybe I’ll send an email before hand next time..
