This place barely can be called a hotel! It is more like a small collection of rooms in a dumpy building. It is run down and dirty, worn and ugly. Don’t be misled by the online photos. This place is a dump... We couldn’t even find the place for a good while because there was no sign on the street and no way to recognize it as a hotel!
After being greeted in a very rude way by the inattentive and aloof staff at the front desk (who, by the way, are only there until 11PM...if you have a problem after that time you’re out of luck), we had to wait almost three hours until the “proper check in time” to go to our room. The staff refused to even check to see if our room was ready in spite of us asking several times, and we had to babysit our luggage in the lobby (no luggage storage availability) until they finally, at exactly 3 PM, and after the staff took multiple “smoke breaks” outside (leaving us sweating and ignored sitting in their dirty lobby) they allowed us to check in. They made absolutely no effort to help us and obviously didn’t care. We wasted hours sitting there being ignored. We should have been able to enjoy that time seeing the local sites or having lunch.
After the check in debacle, we had to ride in a tiny, dirty and rickety elevator up to our room. It seemed very unsafe! We just used the stairs after that.
The bed was too soft and uncomfortable. I could hardly sleep. it was like trying to sleep on a broken couch! There was a lot of street noise that was a problem. (there’s also a noisy restaurant in the back of the hotel that stays open until almost midnight) We were awakened multiple times by loud traffic noise and people yelling and screaming on the sidewalk. Also, NO A/C or ventilation of any kind! We sweated and could not sleep comfortably. No fan was available for our room, either.
The bathroom was tiny and dirty with a shower that you could barely turn around in.
All in all, the “hotel” is terrible and I would never stay there again or recommend it to friends. Also, I would NEVER stay at ANY Amedia hotel after this experience.
I chose this hotel based on price and location, but it was a mistake.... I almost left and forfeited my payment to the hotel to go and find another place, but I “stuck it out” for the two nights that I paid for because they refused to give me a refund.
One word...TERRIBLE...and hardly deserves the one star....
Addendum: This Hotel replied to my review apologizing for the bad experience. Why couldn’t their staff try to make our experience a little better while we were there or just refund our money and let us leave to go to a different hotel when we complained to them multiple times during our stay?? They did nothing to try to make our stay better and offered nothing to us to make any sort of restitution for the terrible experience. Also, the hotel’s reply to my review states that the hotel is currently “being renovated “ but that is simply not true! There was NO evidence of any construction or renovation of any kind going on...
Read morei have read so many bad reviews about the plaza inn in salzburg and frankly i think people are genuinely overreacting. me and my family had a very enjoyable stay at this cozy hotel the location is very good and i appreciated the fact that the door is so concealed. makes it difficult for strangers to find it also parking here is very accessible just ask the staff and they will be sure to aggressively yell the directions for you in a patronizing way! when checking in i loved the idea of no receptionist greeting us such a modern way to welcome guests! the lack of competent staff really did give the hotel a more private atmosphere. also a heads up for my fellow friends who want to stay here the front door is unlocked no need to stand in the street with you luggage confused trying to figure out how to get inside you can just walk in! this definitely provides easy access to all the rooms! upon arrival we also realized that there was no elevator which did not bother us at all dragging our suitcases up flights of stairs after a long trip really got our blood pumping! aside from the fact that the front door was open the security here really has a kick to it. all of the rooms are equipped with a secure chain to lock the door. the damages and scuff marks on our door really did prove that people have tried to force themselves in before but failed! the rooms definitely have a rustic vibe to them and an awesome view of the busy salzburg streets. personally i was serenaded by the noisy traffic just outside my window. beautiful ambiance! nonetheless what shocked me the most was that the room that we got was already occupied by a spider this allowed me to reconnect with nature even in a busy city like salzburg the cleanliness of the room also surely impressed me. i was delighted to see that the staff had gathered all of the dust from the room into one pile in a corner to prove that they had vacuumed 10/10 service. and the human hair on my towels made me feel more connected with previous guests since after all we can all relate to the idea of staying here if you are considering this hotel i definitely recommend staying here for an interesting experience and be sure to bring your family! definitely...
Read moreI have never regretted booking with a hotel or any business more. First, our room's door did not close or lock, no matter how hard we tried. We were told we were not pushing hard enough on the door and offered a new space, which we gladly accepted. The women was very kind and helpful. However, we checked in around 6PM last night and told we wouldn't have hot water for 1-2 hours at most. We called at 9PM saying we still did not have hot water, hoping to shower after a long day exploring the beautiful city. We were told to continue to wait a bit. At 11:30PM, we still did not have hot water. We called the front desk who told us, "I am only hear to check people in, I cannot do anything about it. You'll have to wait until tomorrow morning." Much to our dismay, we called back around 7AM the next morning, again, hoping to shower. We were told "It'll be fixed later today." We told them we would be checking out at 8:30AM, and did not have time to wait. They had no remorse for us. We decided to make the most of it and utilize the breakfast buffet that we were told was included in our stay. We ate maybe a roll each, my boyfriend and I, and had a glass of juice. The food options were terrible, but we figured "Hey, thats what we get for it being complimentary." We then went to check out, where we were told that breakfast was $11 each, and we would have to pay $22 before we could leave. We were shocked, as we explained that we were both told and led to believe that it was included in our 1-night stay. We argued that we had no hot water and barely ate anything as he breakfast offerings were not appetizing, but the desk receptionist had abolsutely zero remorse for us or our situation. Showing absolutely no undertanding or flexibility, he demanded we pay. We were in a rush at this point to catch our train and obliged. However, we will be speaking with Best Western, the owner of the hotel, and our credit card company. We do NOT reccomend anyone lookingto have a stress free, relaxing, accomodating VACATION, stay here....
