I just came back from a 3 day visit to Salzburg. I never wrote a review on a hotel, but i was really disappointed with this experience so i wanted to share. It was a very short holiday so i wanted to make the best out of it, and have a very relaxed time. However, i made a wrong choice in reference to the hotel (wolf dietrich hotel). First of all, it really isn't on a 4 star standard:
nothing was provided in the room except two soaps and towels (which were super old, almost looked yellow), and the hair and body wash was the worst thing i could have ever showered with there was no laundry bag, or any footwear for going to the spa, even though they provided robes the room was kind of smelly, and we could not control the heating the staff members were not exactly friendly or useful. They did not know what to suggest for visiting or they were not able to book tickets for the concerts i wanted to go to. There were DVDs in the reception we could borrow, and watch a movie in the room, however the TV was in german and i did not know how to make it work. When i asked the receptionist for help, he kindly came up but had no idea how to switch on the movie, and there were no instructions about it. I ended up figuring it out myself.
The breakfast was relatively ok, and the location was not bad, it was around 18 minutes from the train station, and 10 minute walk to the city centre. In my opinion it was overpriced and the rating on the internet is overrated. I would not...

First, the price isn't equivalent to room itself. We paid around 330eur per night, but that wasn't worth it at all, room was very small, there was no space for ourselves. The floor made annoying noises while we're walking, there were several different levels on floor so you can easily hurt your thumbs We stayed for two days and after first day cleaning we didn't have any bath towels anymore, just the small ones We had two pillows, one was ok, the other one seemes to be in retirement, but thankfully there was an extra pillow in closet
The staff didn't explain anything about spa using terms and conditions so you have to explore it by yourself
Spa zone was clean, but a very small, I just was expected something more for such an amount of price
If all of this is not killing you yet, the breakfast will. There was a poor choice of breakfast food, especially the warm one, just scrambled eggs, burned bacon, it was overcooked and chewable and sausages. That's it, deal with it. There were several vegetables like cucumber, tomatoes and red pepper, a few options of cheese and some chorizo, ham, pepperoni There very also cereals, yogurts and fruits Coffee and juice were made by staff so if you want some more, you'll have to ask for it, not making by yourself
The parking is actually 10minutes walk away
Overall my staying in Salzburg was warmly memorisable, but it has nothing to do...
Read moreI had high hopes for the Wolf-Dietrich since our room was so spacious and well appointed. Also, the breakfast was top notch. But there were just enough negatives that over all, I probably wouldn’t return.
First of all, the street between the hotel and the Rezidence was closed for construction. Our first morning, we were awakened by jack hammering at 7 am! You should have seen the tired and grumpy guests in the breakfast room at 8 am. The subsequent days, there wasn’t jack hammering but the construction workers started promptly at 7, so there was no sleeping in. I understand this is out of the Wolf-Detiech’s Control, but I feel we should have been notified prior to arrival, or offered some compensation.
A couple other annoyances: the night clerk took five minutes to answer the bell when we arrived at 9:30 pm. He checked us in and then pointed us across the street to the Rezidence. I think walking us over would have been a warmer gesture. Also, the WiFi went out a couple of times, same night clerk had to recycle it but it took an hour.
We chose the Wolf-Dietrich because it was close to everything but on a quieter part of Salzburg. This was the last of our 3 week trek through the alps so we were looking forward to resting and relaxing. Due to the street being torn up, that...
