We arrived at 1pm, the receptionist said that it would be 2pm for checking in, okay we waited at the lobby till 2pm. Then I approached the receptionist for checking in, the other receptionist said it's 3pm for checking in, and I said not 2pm?She replied bluntly and impatiently that it's 3pm!Usually hotel receptionist will check if the room is available to let the customer check in early, but this is like a robot answer, no service, no heart at all! They just didn't want start working till 3pm, these are simple and lazy mentality!
After two hours of waiting, we got into the room, we tried turning on the air conditioning, not working! I then called the receptionist, a man replied that it's not not working, just the temperature is not hot enough to kick in the system for air-conditioning! The room temperature was at 22 degrees, outside was 26 degrees and full of sunshibe, it's hot when we got into the room, we had no choice but to open the window, then found some flies coming in, again, we had no choice but to stuck in this no air-conditioning room for the next few days!
In the morning, we were on the way out for sightseeing, the cleaning man was around, so I asked him to help clean the room while we were out, but it seemed that he didn't understand English, so we opened the door of our room and use some gestures to show him that we wanted the room to be cleaned. Unfortunately, when we came back, nothing was done....! COME ON....!
First of all, this is our first time in Vienna, and the receptionist was our first impression in Vienna, not a good start at all! I would say the one young lady receptionist who helped us checking was polite and patient, others were just arrogant and no service at all, at least I don't feel they should work in the hotel industry if they don't welcome tourists!
If you have a choice to choose other hotels in Vienna, I would highly recommend you not to choose this one unless you don't mind being treated with no service and having no air-conditioning during your stay!
So far this is the worst hotel that I have ever stayed in the past so many years of traveling around Europe, US, Canada and Asia!
The only good for this hotel is the location where is near the central bus and train terminal, that's it!
I believe the Hotel Management has to look into the issues that I mentioned above as I found the similar complaints from other guests who stayed in the hotel, so these are not new and not just my...
Read moreWe stayed at the Garner Hotel Vienna – Prinz Eugen for four nights in mid-August 2025, traveling as a group of three adults. All rooms suitable for three or four guests (Executive Studios) are located directly behind the elevator shafts, which means that the elevator noises are clearly audible – we were often woken up by them in the morning. On the plus side, those rooms face the quiet courtyard, and from the upper floors (7th or 8th), you get a beautiful view over Vienna’s rooftops.||In our room (718), the relatively narrow double bed was placed in a niche, almost behind a curtain. It was only accessible from one side, so one person had to climb over the other or try to get out at the foot of the bed – not very comfortable.||The bathroom was recently renovated and looked fine at first glance. However, the toilet was positioned directly in front of the shower wall, which made it quite cramped. The shower gel provided was nearly empty when we checked in and was not refilled during our stay, but the front desk did hand us a replacement bottle upon request.||A small kitchenette is included in the room, which might be useful for longer stays. Unfortunately, both the room itself and the dishes were not very clean when we arrived – and this did not improve over the course of our stay.||Our unit consisted of two rooms, but only one had air conditioning. During the heatwave (35°C), the system barely managed to cool the space to an acceptable level. With multiple people in the room, you really need to tolerate limited air circulation – and the air conditioning blew directly onto the sofa bed.||What really surprised me: more and more hotels seem to completely skip closets or shelves nowadays. This hotel was no exception – there wasn’t a single shelf or wardrobe in the room to store belongings. We had no choice but to live entirely out of our suitcases. For a four-star hotel, I find that disappointing.||On the bright side, the location is excellent. The hotel is right next to the train station, making it very easy to get anywhere in Vienna. The Belvedere Palace and gardens are also just around the corner. And if you’re looking for a great breakfast spot: 15 süße Minuten is right nearby and serves amazing cakes, doughnuts,...

I stayed at Select Hotel Prinz Eugen Wien – for over a month, so I can confidently say a lot about this property—its strengths, its quirks, and what future guests should expect.
First, the location is unbeatable—just a short walk from Wien Hauptbahnhof (main railway station), a tram stop, drug store, post office, and plenty of cafés and eateries nearby. Whether you’re commuting, sightseeing, or just grabbing a bite, everything is within easy reach.
The hotel itself has a graceful, old-world Viennese charm. My room was spacious, and the bathroom was larger than average, which was a big plus for a long stay. The rooms are soundproof, which ensured peaceful sleep despite the central location.
Pro tip: Request a top-floor room facing the road—you’ll get a balcony, lovely views, and still enjoy complete quiet thanks to the soundproof windows.
The staff were consistently friendly, professional, and helpful. The breakfast was satisfying, with a reliable spread of fresh items including baked goods, fruit, eggs, and quality coffee.
However, a few areas could be improved: • The main entrance door is not automatic and not very wide, which was inconvenient—especially when carrying luggage or groceries. • The elevators are quite small and visibly old, fitting only 2-3 people comfortably. For a hotel that often hosts international travelers, this felt a bit dated.
That said, the hotel was always clean, the housekeeping was prompt, and it truly felt like a second home over the weeks. If you’re looking for a well-connected, safe, and reliable place to stay in Vienna—with a few manageable limitations—this is a solid choice.
Would I stay here again? Yes....
