In my humble opinion, here are my thoughts.
The food; Was quite good, being both tasty and fresh. While it did not possess the familiar flavors I am accustomed to, having sampled numerous restaurants across several countries, it was nonetheless enjoyable.
Regarding the location; The seating is situated on the sidewalk, which does not quite create the ambiance of a traditional restaurant.
The service; Was commendable, with the server, who appeared to be the manager, demonstrating proficiency in both English and Spanish, in addition to Portuguese.
Concerning the overall value, our expenditure amounted to 345 Reales, equivalent to approximately 70 US dollars. Considering the location, the unique food flavors, and the seating arrangements, this price point seems somewhat elevated compared to other establishments we have frequented. Therefore, I do not feel that the food, location, or overall experience warranted the 70 US dollar cost. Consequently, I would not...
Read moreI don't post or review much unless it's worth it. Imagine taking a bite of food in a different continent, miles away from your own house and your mom's cooking and you are taken back to your childhood days instantly. Curry se, of all places in Rio, takes you on such a journey with every bite of their organic fresh food, expertly and lovingly (just like your mom would) prepared by Chef Patty. We had the following items - Lassi (fresh, not sweet), Detox Kichidi (grounding), Rotis (straight from mom's tawa), Chole (my grandma's recipe straight up), Paneer Tikka masala (perfect mouth watering spice blend). The kicker was the Dessert - Gulab jamun (warm, not chewy/rubbery, very flavorful) - which after we tasting one ended up ordering three more. Honestly, I'm not sure what the process is to get into a Michelin guide, but this restaurant definitely deserves some...
Read moreWe were craving some Indian curry and found this gem of a restaurant. This is a hole in the wall, but wow, we were blown away by the food and the attitude of the chef to cooking.
The ingredients used are organic, cooked passionately and fresh. We ordered the curry paneer Tikka and the paneer was very soft and pan sauteed in a great tasting gravy. The entree came with hot basmati rice and 2 freshly made chapatis/rotis cooked to perfection.
The chef/owner was very knowledgeable about Indian cuisine and cooking techniques and we could see her passion in our interactions with her.
We also got 2 veggie wraps to-go and they were amazing as well with grilled veggies with amazing spices and curry along with mango chutney.
Also try the lassi - mango mixed with passion fruit. It was made with fresh home made yogurt and it was so refreshing.
Highly...
