Unfortunately, I was misled by the glowing comments on Trip Advisor. On the Pro side the Ego is a small, quiet, clean and utilitarian hotel with helpful staff. The breakfast is adequate and had surprisingly tasty orange juice. While the immediate surroundings are depressing the hotel is a 10 minute walk to lively areas. On the Con side the AC is not available until May 1st and our room was so hot that so we had to sleep with the windows open which was a security issue. The bathroom is small with only one tiny shelf for toiletries and no hanger or hooks. The shower floor is dangerously slippery. A rubber mat would have been helpful. Our room was large enough yet there was only a 10 inch trench to get into the right side of the bed while the left side had a large night table and extra space - having 2 smaller night tables would have been useful. The pillows are either flat (4 inches tall) and very hard. There is no safe. I do not expect luxury from a 3 star hotel but some thought into safety and comfort would have been...
Read moreThis is our normal go to hotel. We have been many times and always recommend it. However, I am sad to say that this time was most likely our last. We had the studio apartment and we were very disappointed. When you pay for a room you are paying for a bed and good nights sleep. The sheets did not fit the bed (too small) which led to them slipping off and revealing the very stained and dirty mattress which we were then sleeping on. There was a stain on the wall paneling that had not be cleaned before, or during our stay. Very unpleasant. Breakfast was cold and not as good as it used to be when we first started to go to this hotel. Cold fried and scrambled eggs, cold bacon. The fruit should was over ripe and should have been thrown away a day, or two ago. There was no dried fruits, or Bulgarian yogurt on the buffet. The hotel is in a great location and it has fee parking. We have always enjoyed the...
Read moreA surprisingly good hotel for the price, located very close to the city center. Although situated right next to two very busy boulevards, the staу was pretty quiet and pleasant. The beds were comfortable, but the pillows were so unbelievably thin I had to stack both together and then fold them over to be usable at all - if I'd been on a trip with my partner this would ruin our sleep. Everything was clean and warm, and the bathroom spacious and fitted with all the necessities. Reasonably priced mini bar.
Update: Went there with my spouse, and the pillows indeed wrecked our necks - please do something about that. Otherwise the experience was...
