Golden House International Hotel — Hotel in Khan Daun Penh

I stayed here for my first four nights as I wanted to be in the centre of things. It is in the heart of 136 Street one block from the river. ||||The room was basic but had a good fridge (with chiller - yay), very efficient a/c and very decent wifi. Tip: freeze your free water bottles before you take them out with you - by the time you want them they will have melted and be icy cold.||||Delicious breakfast was included and they made the best, lightest tastiest omelettes I've had in hotel or restaurant for a long time. So often they are overcooked, dry and tasteless, these were light fluffy and perfect. I made a special effort to thank the chef! I recommend ham, cheese and onion.||||They have an extremely reasonably priced bar and meal menu and you can even have breakfast served in your room.||||They supply you with all you toiletry needs and replenish every day. ||||I got a room at the side, near the back and although there was definitely some noise late into the night it wasn't enough to stop me sleeping - a room at the front might be more challenging though.||||The family running the place couldn't...

Just what a simple no frills hotel is supposed to be. Seems like family owned but professionally run. Had no problems at all.|Asked for a Non smoking room and got exactly that. For this alone I am grateful. Hotel has a functional lift so thats a plus. Stayed on 4th Floor facing the roof of the adjacent building. Noise from the bars were not loud. Hardly noticed it. Room itself was clean, and cleaned promptly daily. Linen and towels were nice and clean. A small fridge thoughtfully placed higher on the wall was nice so no need to bend down. A decent safe too.|Would have been perfect for the price if the pillows had been a tad softer but honestly no complains there.|Had breakfast twice here and it was adequate for the price.|If I may suggest they should label the lift floor only. Golden House is located in the heart of Phnom Penh amidst the nightlife, restaurants and only a few steps from the lovely River Walk. The hotel itself is tranquil and very well run by the highly competent Mae and her excellent, attentive staff. This is my fourth time here and I always feel welcome and well cared for. The rooms are well appointed, clean and well maintained with the maids making every effort to keep the rooms in top shape. Everything works well in the room--TV, air, electrical sockets, refrigerator, etc. and the wifi is strong and reliable. Downstairs, there is a small bar and room service is available.
