We had been in Phnom Penh for 2 nights. I booked the hotel because of the good reviews and the location.
We arrived in the evening after sunset and it was quite dark in the hotel lobby. The check in was fast. We arrived in our hotel room which was quite hot because the AC wasn't on. It took like 1,5 hours to get the room to a good temperature.
I decided to take a short roundtrip through the hotel. I went down to the lobby and wondered why a woman with short skirt and high heels was waiting at the reception. I passed by and she asked me " you you ? " Doing hand signs which signal that she was offering special services. So I rushed upstairs again because I felt so uncomfortable knowing that the hotel rooms are used for hookers too... Shortly after I came back to the 5. Floor I heard a man picking her up from the lobby and walking up the stairs with her.
I entered the hotel room to prepare myself for sleep. The hotel room is big but in old shape. The beds have some rolls so you can move them around the room. The beds are hard as a rock and the 2 nights I could not sleep good on them. My girlfriend found some cockroaches behind the mirror in the bathroom .
The next morning we went to breakfast. Breakfast is good and diverse. You can also order omelette or other egg variants at an egg station.
The floors with carpet are very dirty.
We haven't had the opportunity to try out the pools because they had been occupied by a group of french people.
All in all. The hotel was okay to stay for 1-max.2 nights. It's quite old . There is a market directly next to the hotel so you will be asked up at around 5 am if your room has a balcony...
Read moreI’m so very, very disappointed with this place. Firstly, the air conditioner in my room had a constant hum/buzz which drove me mad! I wanted to sleep after my trip but couldn’t. I was actually getting a headache from the noise. I called reception about it and they sent someone up with fly spray! When I finally got through to them, they said they had issues with some of the rooms having noisy fans and told me they would send someone up to take me to a new room. I waited. And I waited. Eventually, after 40+ minutes I was so annoyed waiting that I called down to reception again, “oh, you want to move straight away?” So, get to the new room and the wifi isn’t working. I politely mentioned it to the reception a little later when I went out to eat, thinking they would fix it while I was away. Upon my return from dinner I asked the chap at reception if they’d been able to find the problem, “oh yes, all fixed” was the reply. Of course it hadn’t been, so I rang down again, “oh, we will send someone up sometime, maybe in the next ten minutes.” The reply was rude and short. I’m sure I will need to edit and add more to this before I leave, as I’m expecting more crap. Oh, the pic below is the view from my first room - ‘city views’ it says in the advertising. UPDATE: Here I am, as I suspected, adding an edit. After talking to reception again (several times), another chap has owned up to the fact that they have no internet due to their provider. If only they’d be upfront from the beginning. The earlier guy outright lied to me several times. I’ve told them to make up my bill as I’m checking out tomorrow. Don’t make the same mistake as I. Book...
Read moreOld hotel. No view from the room, just an old dirty abandined buikding on feont of the window. Bad service: No stable internet in room, onky 1 or 2 bars and very often no intenet at all. I was cut few tines in the middle of calls to my family. Sone staff are moody; at rhe breakfast place for example, one lady greeted me with a sniling "Good morning" the first morning. The second morning, I greeted her twice with a smiking "Good morning", she looked at me with empty face. I repeated my greeting, she kept looking at me like if I was a zombie. Okay I stopped greeting staff. No clear explanation on water in room. I stayed 4 nigts, I used 4 small bottles of water. I was told that I could get 2 bottles free each day. But when I checked out, I was forced to pay 4 bottles of water. Stupid arrangements, bad service, bad explanation on ridiculous rules. Inaskes a man at the reception to buy a ticket with Larryta bus. He bought ot without problem. On my departure day, I found on Google Map that there are two Larryta abus stations on Phnom Penh. I asked the reception staff to which I should go. A young lady told me to gonto ine station. Another lady told me to go to the other station. It was very confusing. I went to one station. Of course it was the wrong one and I had to go to the other one. This is the kind of very common information they can give to guests. They should have a small map for their staff to know where to send their guests using this good bus company.
All together I do not recommend this hotel. At rhis price level, one expects good and...
