Unfortunately we had quite the underwhelming experience at this hotel. To preface the staff was very friendly, welcoming and helpful but everything else was quite lackluster.
Starting with the room, the provided white towels were smelly and very stale leaving a stink on my body after a shower. When we crawled in the beds to sleep for the night we realized the sheets were dirty and were not changed from the previous guests. Pieces of dirt were smeared on the sheets and bits of food and other grime were present under the top sheet and blanket. These experiences left us feeling quite disgusted even though our expectations werent extremely high reflecting on the Google 2-star hotel rating.
The shower faucet was in disrepair and was difficult to navigate to a consistent hot water setting. Although the shampoo and soaps provided were great smelling, props to the company that provides them (sorry I can't remember the name).
We booked a larger renovated room with a kitchenette on the main floor. The room did not contain any accomodations like basic silverware or any dish soap or basic items you might expect when staying in a room labeled as such. We were able to request some dish soap to the room which was great.
In the morning guests were quite loud and there seemed to be a stampede of children running through the halls, which can be expected at locations that have family amenities like a pool. If you have small children or an infant you may want to keep this in mind.
Unfortunately the pool was quite gross as well, the pool is very dated and in disrepair. The pool walls are rusting leaving brown smears along the edges. The hot tub was shallow and seemily constructed of lower quality materials and was also quite dated. The water did not seem properly treated.
The provided breakfast was fine. Ham and hash browns were available along with powdered eggs, muffins, toast and coffee. The seating are for breakfast was one of the better features of this hotel.
The fitness area was unavailable and closed to the public. Join viewing the inside ftom the window, it looks to have suffered some water damage on the ceiling. As of March 9 2024 this facility does not look like it will be accessible any time in the near future. Looking inside the equipment (like the rest of the hotel) seemed fairly dated and could use some upgrades.
The location was a bit shady, confirmed by the signs in the parking lot stating they arent responsible for any theft that may happen in the vehicle parking lot, and the homeless man freely digging in the dumpsters by the main entrance.
Overall the experience was mostly negative in regards to the hotel and it's lacking amenities, but the friendly staff were a bright spot in this shady experience.
There are much nicer places to stay in Edmonton for $250 per night. My wife and I recommend...
Read moreGreat eatablishment. Absolutely horrible management with zero hospitality training. I am a elder minority and have had the same unpleasant experience with the same management person each stay. I must say all other staff has always been fabulous and completely accommodating. The management person went as far as to inquire about my injury and duration of my recovery not knowing I have had 3 surgeries in the last year and currently scheduled for a fourth due to complications from the first initial surgery I was forced to get in a unrecommended facility. Im not sure if she has awareness that inquiring about my injury and duration of recovery is not part of the Best Western's company standards and practice and it borders along the lines of her being liable for malpractice. Too add to things my last visit, there was also no signage for patrons for a exit door parallel to the parking area that had been taken out of service due to a bad snow storm. It was appalling to hear she has claimed I damaged the door. Unfortunately unknowingly as I had used the door several times during that stay and several times in the past I thought the door was frozen as it opened partially my first attempt to open it so I gave a little more effort and it opened. I realized upon exiting maintenance had drilled two screws one into the door and one into the frame and ran a wire between the two to prevent it opening. If anything thats how the damage was created not by the wire being dislodged from the door and frame as I unknowingly tried to exit. I mean who takes a door out of service in this fashion. Obviously they realized there should be signage as I noticed they put signage up shortly after. Also being a diamond member you would think hospitality would be present. Unfortunately for unknown reasons it has not. I have also always left the accommodations in good standing taking extra effort to do a brief clean and separate soiled towels and cloths prior to checking out. I am very displeased and I hope this review reflects so.
Update: I expressed everything accurately and exactly how it occurred. As I expressed initially I can only assume I was the first to encounter the door after it was removed from service as it was shortly before 8am and a day that it was not very busy. Following that I can only assume anyone that encountered the signage that was later posted in and around the exit was able to come to the realization the exit door was out of service. Lastly the door was taken out of service exactly how I expressed. I have wondered why the door was not simply locked but I cant answer this question. I dont think anyone would be be able to open this type of door if it were locked as it is a very heavy...
Read moreI’m writing to share feedback about our recent stay, which unfortunately fell well below our expectations for a Best Western property.||Booking & Upgrade Frustrations|Before arriving, I encountered difficulty in inquiring about a room upgrade. While I understand that upgrades are not guaranteed, I was surprised to learn that upgrading to a suite would cost an additional $110–$200 per night on top of our $140 room rate. These prices felt excessive and inconsistent—particularly when, just days later, the same suite was listed at $185. This lack of transparency and variability was both confusing and frustrating.||Check-In Delay|We purposely arrived after 4 PM to ensure a smooth check-in, only to be told our room was not ready due to housekeeping delays. While I sympathize with staffing challenges, it was disappointing not to receive proactive communication or an offer of accommodation while we waited past the guaranteed check-in time.||Pool Access & Cleanliness Concerns|The pool was closed for maintenance for several hours—an understandable but unfortunate inconvenience. However, shortly after it reopened, a toddler vomited in the pool area, prompting another closure. While the staff handled the situation quickly and professionally, the repeated disruptions left our children quite disappointed.||Noise Disturbance & Guest Behavior|That evening, we were woken by a large group of teenagers—approximately 30—arriving late and creating excessive noise in the hallway. Although a staff member acknowledged the issue and attempted to manage it, the disturbance had already impacted our rest. Walls and door are thing so you could hear water run toilets flush, conversations in the hallway, traffic noise ect. ||Overwhelmed Breakfast Experience|The same group dominated the breakfast area the next morning, leading to a chaotic and uncomfortable environment. I witnessed senior guests struggling to access food or even get coffee due to the crowding and lack of order. There appeared to be no staff supervision or effort to balance the experience for all guests.||While I appreciate the manager offering a 30% discount upon checkout, the combination of these issues made this the most disappointing stay we've had at a Best Western. With higher rates compared to other nearby options, we are left uncertain whether we would return to...
