UPDATE: it’s been almost a month since I wrote this review - had filled out the form as per the reply and still haven’t received a response. Someone named “Bo” also emailed me with promises of a giftcard. I accepted, maybe willing to give them a second chance at that point while also reminding them of concerns about food quality but they never got back to me either. Complete silence from the restaurant is astonishing in this regard. How could you serve anything like this to a customer and never take any accountability??? Clearly not making any improvements and this is not a one off situation either based on the new reviews since this was originally posted. To anyone reading this, AVOID THIS RESTAURANT. Wow. My experience here was awful!! For a restaurant that calls itself “Fresh”, they are WAY off the mark… my order was anything but. I ordered a Tiger Bowl to go and the pictures were what I received. Hardly any food, rotting vegetables and cashews, almost no rice and everything was just absolutely DRENCHED in oil. There is clearly no quality control whatsoever on orders that aren’t placed in restaurant, there was so much oil in this it was inedible. I also got the end of the lettuce head in my bowl among other things. The tofu cubes weren’t even cooked well either, they were soggy… I ended up trashing most of the bowl but the damage of what I did eat was already done and my stomach has been killing me for hours … what a huge waste of time and money. Don’t recommend at all!!!

Went for brunch today at noon. The green egg burrito was AMAZING. It’s so flavorful with all the plant-based sausages and egg that you won’t believe it’s vegan. You can tell the salads are super fresh, and the dressings (I got peanut lime, 369, a hot sauce they offered to add, and another I actually don’t know the name of) all have unique, rich tastes. My favorite one was the peanut lime. It’s a big meal (for a person with smaller appetite) and I took home half the burrito for dinner. Although sometimes it’s hard to make eye contact with the servers when you need something, they are very friendly and helpful. The girls patiently explained all the menu items I was interested in and made tailored recommendations, and came ask if everything was ok during my meal. For my order, I asked to upgrade the side to a “eat your greens” salad but they forgot and gave me the normal side salad. I asked about it and they promptly gave me the “eat your greens” in addition. The ambiance was generally clean and bright. I found it soothing to enjoy some good food alone on this sunny Saturday. The only complaints I would have is the music (those remixes of pop songs were a little too agitating at times) and there were two flies circling around my table so I had to guard my food. The salad plate is also a bit too small. It’s good for the aesthetics but I spilled a bit when I tried to eat it because it was so full. Overall, this place is definitely worth a try!!

Update: Fresh replied to my review by asking me to fill out the same form I filled out a week ago. If you truly want to “make things right,” just refund my order and stop wasting my time… I ordered delivery online and was sent an incomplete order. Immediately upon discovering this, I attempted to contact the restaurant. After several unanswered phone calls, one unanswered voicemail, eventually getting through to a person on the fourth call half an hour later, being gaslit and told I made a mistake with my online order (I did not), being passed to a “manager” who claimed they couldn’t refund my order because they “did not have access to the company credit card” (???), being told they were unable to send me a replacement order because they would have to do that “out of pocket,” then being directed to fill out an online form, receiving an automated response saying they would be in touch in 48 hours, a week goes by and finally, after all that, the best that Fresh could do was offer me a $15 credit towards a future purchase and a joke of an closing remark: “We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused.” Insulting a repeat customer and making them jump through hoops to avoid owning up to your mistake to potentially save $10 is appalling customer service. Fresh has lost a customer for life. Good riddance.

If you are person of colour and want respectful service like everyone else especially Indian ethnicity think about where you want to spend your time and money. I don’t write reviews unless it’s best or worst. And this past week I have been having worst experiences with customer service in almost every restaurant I went to. Seems like colour of my skin makes every one think that they are supposed to give me service with least respect. Here is what I experienced, went to this restaurant second time because first time I had good service and food at this restaurant , lady that served first time was good and I didn’t know she was manager until she told me second time when I had very bad customer service basically discriminatory service. But it wasn’t just her she came later to support her discriminatory staff. So I won’t say name or anything to target anyone because getting anyone fired is not my goal , my motive to write this is I say no to discrimination. I went in there with my brother . Who just got recovered from car accident injuries and I can’t leave him alone, he doesn’t talk much english he gets nervous alone. We ordered food just two smoothies we weren’t too much hungry. Then we went to washroom. Both of us same time he wanted to wash hands and face and I went in and we were talking and then he came out and I used washroom. Later we told them we want to dine in and lady at counter told us with condescending hand gestures that you two stand over there, I repeated we want to dine in and she said with judgemental eyes what else you want to order . Meaning you guys seem to have less money and we don’t want you to sit here and have smoothies. My brother he sat down there but when I realized what happened, I asked him to leave with me and we left smoothies and left the place , and I always pay 15 percent tip. Ok we discussed that we can’t have this kind of disrespectful judgemental service everywhere we go we need to go and tell them that we want another order and please give us same service like everyone else and we will pay same money like everyone else. We went in there after an hour. And they denied to take order and told us we aren’t making anything for you guys. Manager came and she said we are disrespectful lol. How is it disrespectful to ask for dining in. I explained her what happened and instead of getting us another order which I was willing to pay for she said those smoothies which we made with disrespect for you two and hour ago, if you don’t drink those we aren’t making anything for you two ever. And I asked why , she said you both went in washroom at same time. I don’t know what she was thinking. And then she said people spend hundreds of dollars here. I said I will spend thousands of dollars I need same service like a person with white skin. She denied. And we left.

I will never ever go there again. I am just writing this for those punjabis who like live with their head up. I know most people coming from India are ok or tolerate discrimination because of whatever reasons. But you my brothers and sister don’t eat where they can’t serve you food with same smile as when they serve other people. This isn’t about money or food , this is about our right to live with respect in this country, we served in world wars under these flags and we need our...

My Mum and I frequent this Fresh location often. We really enjoy the food and service, until today. Today we went to have something to eat as per usual, and we had a new server called KAYLA who was rude, unpleasant and dismissive. The second she came to serve us she had an awful attitude. Especially toward my Mum who is an elderly lady.. My Mum asked her not to serve us water because we never drink it and she wants to save the server the trouble. For some reason Kayla decided that was offensive to her, and rolled her eyes at my Mum thinking no one saw her, but I did. I thought maybe she would calm down after we ordered our food, but the passive aggression continued for the rest of our stay. She has a very nasty way of conducting herself. I know she thinks she's great, but I suggest for her to observe herself from the outside. I know she wouldn't be happy being treated the way she treated us. I'm not sure if she was judgemental in the way we looked, or we just weren't part of her "crowd", but if she doesn't like her job, she could always go after something more suitable for her. She should pursue a different job and try to be happier my God!. The vibe she gives out is miserable. I feel sorry for her. I couldn't even look at her. She was depressing to endure. We ate and left. We didn't even bother getting dessert which is our favourite part of going out. I work really hard and I love taking my Mum out when I'm off work. It's a sacred time for us, as I work a lot, and very long hours as a security guard in a 5 star hotel. I definitely know what high quality customer service looks like. Kayla should take a course on how to treat people, and not make us feel we wasted our money and time at a place that is meant to be joyous and meant for sharing fun moments with loved ones. Kayla you made the day feel heavy. I hope you either change jobs, or your terrible attitude. If I go there again with my Mum, I will make sure I call first to make sure Kayla is not there. Life is too short to waste on...

I visited Fresh on Bloor street west on a quiet evening. Despite being an old patron at front street location, I gave a call prior to visiting since it was my first time at bloor street location. I am vegan, and allergic to gluten and soy and wished to eat something on the appetizer side. I ordered a soup and poutine which had topping of cheese sauce and miso gravy. Being allergic to soy, I requested to give only fries with cheese sauce. To my dismay, when the poutine arrived - it was a plate of completely SOGGY and COLD fries on one side and a lump of dry cheese ( it was not even shreeded cheese- just a lump) dumped on another side. Honestly, I was offended to even look at it and how a kitchen is called a kitchen ( of a plant based restaurant) and chef are called chef? I checked with server- was it not suppose to be cheese sauce - he very proudly mentioned that “ maybe if there was miso gravy, the cheese had melted to become cheese sauce”!!! REALLY ?? I was again offended even to discuss or argue about it as that soggy cheap cold fries with lump of dry cheese WAS NOT worth my time when I already wasted money. Just an advise - if you really want to hire people who read the books and work in your kitchen- you may want to pickup college or school kids who may do a better job and likely be creative - but please do not offend patrons to waste their money on a plant based restaurant run by “ culinary chefs”! A total shame that one cannot get normal fries right. The soup was another...
