Mountain-Sized Fried Chicken Ramen That Will Blow Your Mind 🍗

I found this place because I heard the son of Aoi Budogu (local martial arts supplier that provides our Iaido club a lot of equipment) opened this place. Amazing ramen to stuff our faces after renshu. I ordered the Miso Chashu Bakkamori with rich soup, and surprisingly I was able to finish it (a little uncomfortable, but satisfied. Under the mountain of moyashi was a very healthy portion of ramen noodles. The chashu was massive, like it was cut out of the side of Godzilla. A light sear on the chashu brings a smoky flavour to a very flavourful bowl of ramen. Although the gyoza was sort of an afterthought, it too was well worth the entrance fee. Definitely try the gyoza if you think you can manage finishing that massive bakkamori ramen (or order something with a smaller portion like a normal human being). Actually, the Basic chashu rich ramen was quite filling, and also very tasty. This place is child friendly, adult friendly, and a true testament to some really oishi ramen.

I finally tried the ramen shop that always has a line out the door, and the experience was a mixed bag. The setting is simple and unadorned—nothing fancy, just a straightforward spot. Service was standard, though the server did greet with a smile. For food, I ordered the Yokohama Iekei ramen along with three pieces of gyoza. Unfortunately, the gyoza were overly greasy and the skin lacked crispness—quite underwhelming. The chashu was also on the heavy side, with nearly two-thirds being fat and only a small portion lean meat. The broth leaned toward the salty and intense side. Overall, these parts felt fairly average. But the ramen noodles themselves were outstanding—possibly the best I’ve had in Vancouver. Thick and chewy with excellent bounce, they soaked up the broth beautifully, delivering flavor in every bite. In summary, it’s worth a try for the noodles alone, but I probably wouldn’t return since the other dishes felt too oily and fatty for my taste.

We went at 7PM on the Saturday of Easter weekend. It had been drizzling and raining lightly all afternoon. I had to wait about 5-8 mins for a table for 3 + a baby. We were asked if we were okay sharing a table with others and there was another couple already at a 8 seater beside us. I said yes that's fine. I had the Spicy Bakamori with karaage (fried chicken) and added one ajitama (marinated boiled egg), spice level spicy and rich soup. My friends enjoyed their basic with karaage, although they gave them mild by accident instead of the spicy they ordered. So the server brought their spicy sauce, but it wasn't really that spicy. Maybe for caucasians, but for a Westerner like me who can handle spice, and my Chinese-Canadian friends, we basically couldn't detect the spice. If you want truly spicy, get atomic (we haven't tried it). The spicy gyoza (dumplings) were good too. They had the fried crispy mark on each side, nice and moist inside, good salt level (although I prefer heavy salt level).

I was visiting from Ottawa where I have yet to find good ramen, although there are a few in town, so I had high expectations of Vancouver ramen. Gojiro did not disappoint. It was excellent. I loved it. But the spicy karaage bowl for me was way too much. I would've been ok with half the portion. The couple beside us had it when I sat down, so I lusted after it, eyes bigger than stomach cause I had skipped lunch. I'm a big man (6'1" 238 lbs./187cm 108kg) so I finished it because I could and I hate wasting food, but don't get it unless you're really hungry and want to overeat. You could even share a bowl with your date if you...

I’ll let you be the judge of the situation:

I’m a foodie and I work in the hospitality industry. And I really hope this is an isolated case that doesn’t happen very often or that there is some cultural difference here that explains the situation:

We called at 9.20PM to asked when was the last call for the kitchen. Server replied 9:30PM. We asked if it was still okay to show up and have some food? Server replied yes. We arrived. 9.25PM - 2Min passed; we were ready to order. We ordered. Food arrived at 9.45PM.

At this point you can tell servers are ready to close the whole restaurant, cleaning tables, cleaning windows, etc. You get it, they wanna go home. 9.55PM the table beside us left. At this point, we already paid for our bill because why not? We noticed they want to leave and we understand.

My fiancé is about to finish his dinner, you can easily tell that if you give the person 5-7 more min we were gonna stand up and leave. You don’t need to be smart to notice that.

10:00PM Server approaches and says: it’s 10pm and we are closed, do you want a take out box?

I asked if he couldn’t finish his meal? She doesn’t wanna answer the question and asked again if we want a take out box. We just walked away as we thanked the kitchen for the food.

What the actual fudge my dude. She couldn’t wait 5 min for the man to finish his dinner? Don’t tell me you couldn’t do your other closing duties and leave the man to eat for 5 more min. It is a total lie and it was totally disrespectful.

Never experienced something like that. And I’m never coming back and that server seriously needs some training about how to...

We finished work today and we decided to come here for dinner as we always do on Wednesday night. The regular staff was not in and we were surprised. It took a very long time for the waitress to come and take our order and they only had 3 tables in the restaurant. The time we arrived was 8:50 pm. We 1st order a couple of Asahi beers with lemon, they brought them over and we still had to wait another 10 minutes for the two waitresses to noticed that we were ready to order. When the waitress came over I was extremely clear to ask her that I WANTED THE GYOZA ASCAN APPETIZER. Well, I guess I was not very clear because the ramen were already done so she apologize about it. At this time it is 9:20 pm so I put my spoon in the ramen and “IT WAS SO COLD” and I told mentioned it to her. So she took it immediately to the kitchen leaving my wife’s Ramen on the table and it “WAS COLD AS WELL” they did not even care about her. So they brought the “Gyoza” as you can see on the picture is not right. Then I toll her that my wife’s ramen was cold and she took it back to the kitchen. They brought it back and it is as cold as the 1st one. These people were more interested in leaving the restaurant that taking care of a couple that has kept coming. So we got up and left because that is what they want us. I will be back when the regular staff is in. Thank you and this place is always awesome and the regular staff is fantastic but these...
