Hotel Hallef — Hotel in Puerto Natales

Warning: this hotel has bedbugs in at least 3 of their rooms. My friend and I stayed there the night of December 20 2023, and discovered several bedbugs in our room.

The person at the front desk offered us another room on another floor, but unfortunately that one was also infested with bed bugs. Within 45min, we had found and killed about a dozen of them (which seemed to be nesting in the wooden parts of the wall). We asked for another room, and I got bitten two more times during the night in that third room.

After a sleepless and stressful night, we went down to talk to the person in charge and they 1) didn’t seem to be surprised (they said they had to recently fumigate the hotel several times because « travelers » brought bedbugs with them) 2) were not initially open to reimbursing us for the night given they had switched us rooms. My friend had to insist heavily, and we ended up prevailing and getting our money back. But it is appalling to see that this huge bed bug problem is not taken seriously...

We stayed at the hotel two nights - one before and one after our trip to TP NP. The hotel is clean, comfortable, some amenities are too basic, but no major complaints. The hotel is situated about 10 min walking from the central bus station and about 10 minutes from the supermarkets and restaurants. The heat was on during our stay in December (+12 - +20 C outside), it was comfortably warm inside. Rooms are basic, but we had all what we needed. Breakfast was good - cereal, toasts, cheese, cold cuts, yogurt etc. The allowed us to to store some luggage during out trip to NP. Check in and out was fast. Staff is pleasant and helpful. During the first night (X-mas eve) there was some commotion outside at 2 AM, but nothing truly major, probably a few locals took celebration to the next level. The second night was very quiet, no...

We have stayed a few nights at Hallef. Overall was excellent the staff is very friendly. Frew Breakfast starts at 630 however there will be bread, ham, salami, coffee, yogurt that is brought out around 6am. There will be dogs barking in the middle of the night and weak wifi but that is an issue all over Natales. No black out curtains over summer its bright daylight until 11pm.
