Stayed 3 nights in this Hotel. |Its location is great - in the financial and commercial centre of Chongqing and is within walking distance to the prime shopping district. ||Chongqing’s city centre is vibrant – which resembles Singapore’s famous Orchard Road. Its night scene is even more happening with light-up buildings and its wide pedestrian malls crowded with locals and tourists even on weekdays. ||Shops here sell mostly branded items. Depending on the exchange rate of individual countries, I feel that their branded items are still cheaper. Also they have more varieties than ours back home. ||However, if one needs something at a bargained price, then head to the older buildings (across the road - quite opposite the Hotel) such as Ginza Mall - you will be spoilt for choice. They sell plenty of stuff – bags, backpacks, luggage, casual and sports apparels, undergarments, shoes, mobile phone accessories etc. There, you need to put your bargaining skills to good use. ||Food-wise - small bites and snacks are aplenty. There are a couple of eateries just outside the Hotel and if you are into hotpots – there are no lack of such restaurants round the corner. ||I would recommend this restaurant called – Deliyue - which is within walking distance from the Hotel. |It is located on the 6th floor - above the one and only - H&M Departmental store. You can spot the H&M logo on this tall building - even from a distance. ||Deliyue (尝悦手工小笼包- 英利大融城6F 订餐电话: 023-63531635) serves delicious and palatable food such as all-day Dim-sum, congee varieties, ala-carte dishes such as spicy prawns, sweet sour fish, spicy frog legs and other meat varieties and desserts as well. ||If you are into healthy eating – free to request for less salt, less oil and less spicy - which we did. We even requested for less sugar in our desserts. We were truly impressed by their dedication. BEST is the PRICE. It is reasonable – considering the posh and clean ambience - with her nice and friendly service staff. ||We spent a happy 4-day holiday in Chongqing and of course, The Milky Way Hotel. The room is so spacious and the toilet was so clean. We simply cannot find any fault with our room and we truly appreciate the cleaning staff for doing such an excellent job. ||However, if you are a light sleeper, you may have to re-consider your hotel choice as The Milky Way Hotel is in the middle of the city and near to some Experimental school - people doing exercises in the morning accompanied by music – and it is also next to a busy crossroad. ||On our last day, the Hotel’s duty manager hailed a cab for us to the airport. He insisted to the driver to charge us accordingly by the meter. ||Thank you, Milky Way Hotel. We will be back to your Hotel on our next trip...
Read moreThe staff at this hotel were helpful and patient - the hotel is very clean and rooms are spacious. All that you need. I totally recommend this hotel, and it's a great price. Everyone was super helpful and the food was just what I needed. It's in a good central location and everything from the sheets, towels and pillows are just as you need. I found all beds in China pretty hard as a standard.||||I want to mention Lin Shi Hong who checked me into the room- she was super kind, patient and perfectly suited to her role as calm, bright, 'nothing is a problem' manager. I had a problem with my own bank card, and she kindly sorted out everything for me which took ages, she was really generous with her time - and gave me faith of the kindness of strangers who welcome and she went beyond her job description in her helpfulness, and during the process bringing me tea, fruit and dinner. Booking my taxi and checking my ongoing travel arrangements. I had to check out super early, Chen Yao, who was managing in the morning looked after me with smiles as I sleepily received my special request breakfast of fruit packed up and I was safely taken to the right airline check in by their taxi man. I arrived tired to the hotel and was fully taken care of by really elegant, well mannered staff who made me feel at home - 2 women who are an asset to their hotel. They were the first people I met in China after a 36...
Read moreWe stayed at the "Milky Way" in July 06. First impression-- not a great choice. The hotel is ok, but not the 4.5 star hotel our chinese travel agent described. When we arrived, we found it was in fact 3 stars. Smoky lobby, small elevator. The room was unusual. Gigantic, with high ceilings, and the biggest bed I've ever slept on. A nice wooden divan was an odd touch. The bathroom was clean, with a shower/bath AND a stand up shower. In-room refrigerator, water boiler. On the down side, the carpet was covered in various stains, and the room had a musty, ugly odor. When we arrived, we agreed that we'd stay one night (12 hour flight from US followed by 3 hour flight from Shanghai), and then find another place the next day. The complementary breakfast was typical of chinese hotels, not much for the western taste. The hotel is located in the center of town, just a couple blocks from the...
