Fruit flies were lwithin the croissants. We had to spend half the time swatting the fly away. I called the person and explained that there was a fly, he took the tea platter and brought it back in 20 seconds. Not sure if he replaced the croissants. The hard part was spending the rest of the time watching out for that fly and swatting it away.
We booked a tea here for our anniversary. The only reason I did this was because I could not find any reservations for either Rosewood or Peninsula. The service was good and I have nothing to say about it, I was also happy they brought a plate with the wishes written in chocolate. That was very kind of them.
My main qualm is with the quality and freshness of food. The food was stale, unhygienic and there is no other way to put this. While the sweets were moist and seemed reasonably fresh, the savoury items were extremely stale. We were there at 3:15PM, which is just about the start of the tea service time and to be given dry stale food with a fly does not say anything good about this place. Considering this place is a 5 start hotel and their charges are on par with other prestigious hotel such as Rosewood and Peninsula, I would expect no less.
Other issues I was unhappy with:
The latte art on the coffee was pathetic. No crema on the Americano. The other swivel chair would not stop...
Read moreGREEN is a feature restaurant on the lobby level ICON hotel in Hung Hom. They are open from 7am to midnight and serve all day meals and afternoon tea.
Seating area is classy, open, green-friendly and overall quite nice. Menu is range of western and handful of Asian options. Service is polite and attentive.
During our lunch we tried the impossible burger 2.0 (HK$168) that was ok. A bit over-grilled and unseasoned, the patty was crumbly and lacking in flavour. Otherwise, toppings were fresh and bun was nice. This was less impressive to some of the impossible meat dishes served at better restaurants in Hong Kong but it wasn't bad.
We also tried the ICONIC burger (HK$198) that wasn't great. Patty was grilled well at medium temperature, burger was juicy but lacked natural beef flavour. It was also unseasoned resulting in lacklustre taste on its own. Toppings were fresh. However, the bun was too soggy from the beef juice. With juicy burgers, it is better to toast buns instead of serving on a soft bun for this reason. Overall, this was a very expensive burger for what was served. It could have easily been much better.
In the end, we liked the dining environs and service but it seems burgers are not the strength of the GREEN kitchen at ICON. We'd suggest trying something else if you decide to dine there during stays at...
Read moreI went to have lunch with my friend today. The waitress who served us was not very polite, she seemed impatient when we took a bit of time to order the food. Too bad I forgot to ask her name. (The one who tied up her hair with slightly fair skin, around 28-35 yrs old).
We both ordered set lunch, and we chose the pan-fried snapper for the main course.
We were shocked when we were trying to cut the snapper, it was very tough and rubbery. I thought I was cutting pork chop instead.
So I complained to the manager, and he told me all frozen snappers are very hard. I was disappointed when he said that to me.
I told him I always eat snapper, and I’ve never had any snapper as tough as this one. He kept silent for a while, and told us that he can replace other main dish for us. So I changed my main dish to lamp chop. It was not very tender as well but better than the snapper.
I was disappointed that Green will offer such tough and not fresh snapper for the customers.
I used to dine at Green for several times. It used to serve good food but I am disappointed about the food today!
I think I won’t dine at Green next time unless the hotel will improve it’s food and service.
No wonder my other friend told me not to dine at Green. She said the food is so so, and the service is bad. It definitely doesn’t seem like a 5-star...
