This cafe is in a convenient location next to Sai Ying Pun MTR entrance. The coffee is good but the service is so so. Winstons Coffee is one of the few in Sai Ying Pun that have a good range of coffee styles and alternative milk, however I don’t recommend sitting in. The cafe seem to focus on takeaway because they only have bar seating on the side. We chose to sit in since the MTR does not allow food and beverages, but this was a mistake, the lack of soft furnishings and the long narrow space means you hear all the loud clanks and rumbles from the bar.
I was also surprised that customers have to pick up their own drinks from the bar and take it to their table, similar to Starbucks. So apart from ordering and making your coffee there is essentially no service provided. I’d rather they forego the free cookie in exchange for better table service. The narrow space means full cups are prone to spillage or bumps from other patrons turning around. Also I’d suggest that the staff add a napkin between the cups and saucer to reduce the chance of cups sliding, this to me is just normal cafe etiquette.
If you’re after takeaway coffee and can finish your drink outside before you get to the MTR station in the morning, it’s worth getting your morning cuppa joe here. But if you’re after a relaxing coffee inside then I’d suggest taking yourself to the one of the other cafes in nearby Sheun Wan who offer better seating and some table service so you can settle in after ordering at...
Read moreGreat coffeeshop, most always crowded, but totally worth it for the coffee and particularly the baps.
They have young, hip staff and a very cool vibe. I particularly like their iced mocha as they use pure cocoa and no added sugar on top of their cold brew, well shaken with some milk and ice. I am also a big fan of their bacon & egg baps, the bacon is often caramelised and they add a tomato relish. I see people working there all the time but I would not because the surfaces are relatively small and they only have high chairs. Most days part of their bar is facing a big open window looking at a small playground with some greenery. I live in the area so every now and then I will go take a longer round to the MTR just to pass by Winston’s when I feel like a treat before work. I have also been there on the weekends, with my toddler son who also enjoys the place. Extremely lively place in a sunny weekend morning. Winston’s is how every...
Read moreI recently revisited after more than a year, hoping for a better experience. While I recognize that the cake I tried was your lemon poppy seed cake from a previous visit, I found it to be lacking in flavor and it contributed to a less favorable impression overall. Unfortunately, my visit was disappointing once again. I've noticed that many other reviews mention the poor attitude of the staff, which seems to be a consistent issue. I understand that training staff can be challenging, it shouldn’t take extensive training to treat customers with basic kindness and respect. A warm greeting can significantly enhance the overall experience, and I believe this is an area that needs attention. There are many other coffee shops in the area with friendly and welcoming staff, which makes it hard to justify returning here. I hope Winston’s can work on creating a more inviting atmosphere for...
