We stayed at the Barron Business Hotel from March 1st-4th 2018-March. ||We had the Business Double Room. First impressions coming into the main lobby is that it was nice while reeking of cigarettes.||||It isn’t until you check in that you’re told there is a 500RMB deposit for the room. ||The halls between the rooms are very dimly lit which makes it feel more like a dungeon rather than a hotel. Upon entering the room first impressions were fine until we took a closer look. The window view is only into the atrium which is better than nothing. Under the desk and nightstands were super dusty and obviously hasn’t been cleaned in a while. Lots of the walls have mysterious stains running down them. There was a wet spot on the carpet outside of the bathroom which never dried. We told the front desk, and the maintenance man came and said that I’s not an issue and its fine. The bathroom only had a few complaints which include, a loose faucet that wobbles around when you use it. The towels are a bit fringed on the ends and have seen better days. There was only one towel hook which leaves one with nowhere to put the second towel. A few more points about the room. There was an ethernet port which was a plus, but the TV doesn’t have any HDMI ports. Even with all the lights on in the room it still seems a bit too dark, perhaps that’s on purpose to hide the stains. The bed was normal as far as bedding, but the mattress itself is pretty firm. ||House keeping comes to clean even if the do not disturb light is on.||The days we were there they were not offering breakfast even though it was one of the reasons we booked the hotel which was disappointing. ||||Our checkout was early in the morning, so the day before I asked and was told they would call a taxi to get us to the airport. When the morning came we were told they couldn’t call a taxi and to go outside and hail a taxi at 4:30am. We hailed a cab and to get to Hongqiao it ended up being 600RMB. ||||Pros of the hotel are that the location is super great, and there was always someone who spoke some English...
Read moreWe booked this hotel for being close to Pudong and very good location and being close to the center. ||The hotel is not at street level, to get there you enter through a dark alley and irregular road. When you arrive you see the facade and it gives a bad feeling. At the reception they asked us for a bail of 500 ¥ (normally they ask for 200 ¥). ||The room was normal, with a overlooking to the corridor, so we had to have the curtains closed, but it was spacious and it fulfilled its function. ||After spending 3 days we do not understand the business hotel concept, it is an old hotel that needs an urgent reform, especially in the bathrooms of the reception that were simply unpleasant. ||Upon checkout, we asked for our deposit and they decolled the money in cash. ||When we arrived in another city we realized that of the 500 ¥ returned 2 ¥ 100 bills were fake||We could not write to them because they do not understand english, and honestly I do not think they are interested in my opinion. ||Be careful...
Read moreVery bad hotel. It is located in a alley next to a motorcycle repair shop. The only benefit is it is close to the Bund. It was supposed to be non-smoking but there were ashes in the room, the wallpaper was peaking and it looked like the carpet hadn't been cleaned since it opened. It appears that this hotel is saving money. Instead of giving a new tissue box, the stuffed toilet paper in the box that was leftover on a roll. The service lady in the morning wasn't even friendly. No morning Hello or Good morning. The dishes were dirty and even when I used a sugar packet there was no trash can for it so I put it on the table and she got mad at me for leaving trash on the table.
I would not recommend it. Not sure how it received such...
