This hotel and its staff is nothing more than a collective of common thugs. We made a reservation through booking.com and the minute we arrived at the place, they were eager to make my partner and I pay for the reservation cash. The first person was told that we would be willing to pay cash until the next day of our two day stay. Hours later another woman part of its staff approached us in a more harrasing fashion about payment to which we were adamant about even more so after this encounter. At this point we had checked in and the staff seemed to have understood our stance. We rested for a few hours, and made our way out to buy dinner when we were called upon by someone by the name of Carlos Javier Alaguna Garzon who claimed to be the owner and to what booking let us know appears to be the manager of this place. He made a scene from the start so my partner decided to call the police to which he laughed and called the local police directly from his phone and seemed to know them personally. At this point my partner returns to the room because Carlos was trying to force us to pay for the stay and started recording everything from his own phone without their knowledge. Once the police arrived the environment and the alledged owner changed drastically and immediately started yelling and screaming at my partner in Spanish. We started briefing the four or five policemen that arrived, but they were very nonchalant and that's when we noticed the friendship between Carlos and the policemen. An argument ensued once the manager started being profane towards my partner to which he clearly says in the recording aimed at the cops '' are you going to allow him to treat us this way?'' and after bad words that I cant even post here so it wont get reported these cops did absolutely nothing. We checked in with our Colombian ID's and my partner and I would speak in English, something that ticked off the manager to the point he started harassing me directly at this point stating I had a Spanish name and was speaking in English being an ''Indian''. We felt so unsafe we decided to call my partner's Godfather who is a known Colonel within the Bogota police force in order to leave the place after various serious threats on behalf of the alledged owner of this place. Everything was mostly recorded as clear audio and once we reached out to booking.com who were very helpful, the representative told us since they had dispositioned our stay as a '' No Show '' so we wouldnt be able to publicly share this experience on their portal. The representative asked that I provide these audios through email, having seen internal complaints that this place has had before. Booking will investigate on their own, but asked that we complain and share this experience through TripAdvisor and Google directly. I will be persuing this hostel legally and have put this in the hands of my lawyer and my partner's Godfather who again is a well known Colonel within Bogota police force. Please avoid this place...
Read moreHaving made a profession within the Hostel Business over the last 7 years, I understand the importance of reviews. Out of my 15 TA reviews so far, 14 of them have been 5* with the other one 4*. My girlfriend and I booked a "Deluxe King Room" using booking.com. For the price, we had realistic expectations.|||| On arrival we was asked to pay the full amount upfront, which wasn't a problem. We then got taken to our "Deluxe King Room". On Booking.com, under Room Facilities it boasts a Balcony, View and the room size to be 6m². We was greeted with a room less than 3m², windowless, a red plastic roof with no balcony.||||Never the less, we decided to stay the night and make the most of it. We had a few beers at the bar, after which we went to bed. We found Dog Poo outside our room/urinal, which we left as it was late. In the morning it had been moved, but then we found more Poo in the shared bathroom on the floor.||||We both woke up at 7am, my girlfriend went to reception to politely explain that this hostel wasn't reflective of our booking, and that we had woke up early so they could try to resell the room. The lady at reception was great and understood, she had to get the owner to get our refund for the remaining 2 nights as we had no problem paying for the first as we chose to stay.||||The owner came through half asleep in his PJs grunted and asked where we came from, then blamed our dissatisfaction on the fact we are English. After 5 mins of trying to reason with him, he very rudely handed our refund.||||Would not recommend this place to anyone, unless they have already been institutionalized and enjoy sleeping in a "Deluxe" windowless cell.||||Regards,...
Read moreThis is a new-ish hostel on the edge of the La Candelaria neighborhood that is very strange. First, there's a rooster living at this urban hostel, so you are literally woken up at 5 AM by a rooster in the middle of Bogotá -- who comes to one of the world's largest cities to be woken up by a rooster before it's even light outside? The building is an old colonial "house," so rooms are dark, dank and cold. Cheap foam mattresses. Dangerous extension cords for charging. Hostel is short on bathrooms and has electric shower heads that have not been properly installed, so they don't sufficiently heat the water. Breakfast costs extra. Location is on the edge of La Candelaria -- nothing is open at night -- and is accessed by a long passageway from the street that women in particular may find uncomfortable. Staff aren't at all friendly and make you feel like you are annoying them when you ask for something or need to have the front door opened. When I stayed there, guests were burning chemically-treated "wood" in the fire pit, which was just "delightful." There's zero reason to choose this place with so many better options -- without roosters -- in the neighborhood. (And, to be honest, I wouldn't even recommend visitors stay in the La Candelaria tourist ghetto -- the area has gotten worse, not better, over the last...
