So this is the second time I've stayed at Yepeto. The first time was on a recommendation from a friend, and instantly upon arriving I saw I wasn't misled. The hostel is situated right on the edge of La Candelaria, next to the La Concordia square. It's close to everything you need whilst on a quiet street that means you won't have trouble sleeping if you settle in for an early night. ||||The hostel is always clean and the staff are super friendly and helpful. Upon returning for only three days to find the hostel full, Albeda greeted my warmly and offered me some blankets and to sleep on the sofa for free until a bed became available. After 21 hours on a bus from the coast and arriving late in the evening, a sofa is a welcome sight as opposed to lugging around my mountain of stuff to find a late night place to stay.||||The hostal has everything you need, from a fully equipped kitchen to keep costs down, to hot showers (you have to turn the hot tap fully and the cold tap just the tiniest bit), and a nice common area with a TV, and fast wifi. As I work on computers this place was perfect for me to knuckle down, make a little money and then relax with a movie or game of basketball before continuing my trip. ||||Though this hostel is far from a party hostel, there is a good atmosphere and with no curfew we spent a few nights dancing together (even some of the staff came!) before getting a good nights rest. ||||The hostel is also...
Read moreAlthough a little tricky to find when you arrive in Bogota, it's in a great location in La Candelaria. There are plenty of bars and places to grab some quick, cheap food nearby. Even though there are many bars within a short walking distance, there was no problem with any noise of an evening. Many places of interest are within walking distance including Monserrate, Plaza Bolivar and the Gold Museum. If you intend to do the Bogota Graffiti Tour, the meeting place is a 2 minute walk away from the hostel. Some people have mentioned La Candelaria being a bit dodgy of an evening, however, we had no issues at all and felt safe the whole time. The hostel itself has a really nice feel about it and the staff are very friendly and helpful and always went out their way to help with any queries we had. There was always someone around who spoke English. The price includes a basic breakfast with tea or coffee which is great when you just want to get out and explore without having to worry about finding somewhere for food first. This hostel really is great value for money. I would definitely recommend this place for the...
Read moreSome Reviews don't paint the whole picture and I want to be as fair as possible. The staff was amazing, the hostel was nice, and La Candelaria has many touristic activities.||||If my work didn't depend on wifi I may have loved the hostel, but unfortunately it does. Out of two years of traveling through South America this was the worst wifi that I have come across. No exaggeration, it took me about an hour to send 3 emails. It didn't really matter what room I was in, time of day, rain or dry. I met one couple that went to the park to use free wifi just to get bus schedules and book a flight.||||If wifi isn't important for you, this hostel is a great option. If wifi is a necessity, you will...
