Enjoyed this small museum very much. Be aware that an actual passport must be presented to pass the security gate and access the elevator. Tickets are purchased on the 23rd floor at the entrance to the museum. 6000 pesos per ticket with a bit extra for a virtual mining experience. We bought virtual experience and liked it. Your ticket includes a guide in English or Spanish. There is a nice walk through display with explainations of different types of rock/emerald formations. Pictures are allowed here but not in the galllery of gems. There is a also a jewelry store. Check out the chocolates that look like a large emerald. Presented in a lovely box and real deal at...

Amazing! That is the word that comes to mind when you are presented with the main showroom. This is a privately owned museum with perhaps the most amazing view for any museum in the world. You are privately led through a presentation about the mining of emeralds in Colombia. Then, you are led into the room with the main exhibit. You are greeted with an amazing collection of jewels. The jewels have to be spectacular to rival the semi-panoramic view of Bogota. You are not allowed to take pictures of the main exihibit but the entire presentation is worth a visit. It is on the 23rd floor of the...

There was so much to learn about emeralds! It was very interesting. My tour guide knew everything! I was the only english speaker and did not expect to receive an english tour. a lady employee was very kind to me and led me through speaking English. Upon arrival approach the counter and hand them your passport, they will give it back along with a plastic pass card to get onto the elevator. At the bottom floor there was an emerald employee helping people get on the elevator and off at floor 23. It is 6,000 for the tour and 12,000 for tour and...

I liked this museum. Was originally referred from the museo de oro across the street? Museo located in edifico Avianca. Either cédula or passport needed for entry. Interesting to learn about the formation of emeralds, production and cultivation in Colombia. I enjoyed the pictures, views and gift shop at the end too. Closed Sunday.
