I went to this bookshop three days ago and spent a huge amount of money in fiction literature, art books and photography books, last minute when I was paying the attendant said that there was a promotion (buy 2 get 1 free) of one editorials I was buying two books, so I went back to choose a third book. The promotion works as you pay for the two most expensive and then the third free is the cheapest. I get back home and realized I have one of those already, so I went back to return it, possibly to shop for more books as well. The book I was returning was sealed, (as they have all their books there: sealed so that you cannot browse inside which in itself is a contradiction in terms: books are meant to be read not looked at their cover) but they would not take it back, not as a return, not as an exchange; one employee offered to buy it for herself back from me, since she wanted to read it, and she was not allowed to do it either. The book I was trying to exchange was not the cheap third free book, which theoretically means I paid fully for it, and books are not cheap in this country, us$ 18 for a soft cover! Very very bad service, I will never return there and I would suggest to whoever wants to shop there to be sure before they pay what is it they want, because they will not exchange any book and you cannot read in there any new or inspiring book you can only look at the plastic sealed covers: absolutely...
Read moreMy rating is of the children's room of Liberia Lerner. The selection of books is great, as is the overall layout of the room.
I've been coming here for years, trying to give the spot a chance but have to say I'm really disappointed at the over all way in which the children's room is managed.
This is due to one woman who is there Monday - Saturday and makes me feel like a naughty school child being watched and frowned at the whole time. I am very on top of my children in the space -- making sure they care for the books and the things in the room but she feels the need to hover, micro-manage and just generally make the experience uncomfortable. Not once have a seen a smile, or a kind interaction with a child.
I understand here in Colombia books are wrapped in plastic - but I swear she'd like to do the same to the children in...
