This hostel is fairly new and is a great choice for any travellers searching for a welcoming vibe. I stayed here 3 nights with my boyfriend and a friend and we always felt cozy here. The hostel is located snugly in Getsemani with a 15-20 min walk to the historical center. ||||Pros:||Staff- Larry and his wife are the owners of the hostel and they make staying there worthwhile. We never felt anything but kindness from them both and we always felt like we could get help for any of our queries. Larry speaks English natively and his wife speaks Spanish. The other staff members are easy as well. ||||Facilities- there is nothing luxury about the hostel but it is very cozy and comfortable. The dorms are capsules with a shade that slides. We chose to stay closer to the ground as we found it more convenient. I would recommend doing the same. There is a bathroom in the 13 bed dorm which had a bathroom of its own. There is no hot water which is customary of Cartagena but the water felt great. The a/c is always on for your convenience in the room and there are fans in the common area. ||||Breakfast-this was the highlight because. It was different each time and absolutely delicious. We had pancakes, eggs, croissants, veggie sandwiches, fruit and natural juice during our stay. Don’t miss breakfast! ||||Cons (things to note)-||Some things are not perfect like a broken lock on one of the lockers or the use of sliding doors instead of a proper one that locks, but these things definitely don’t detract too much from the hostel! ||||Bottom Line:||If you are not bugged by the little things and prefer to feel invited and welcomed, this hostel is for you! Two things we won’t forget is how as we three sat in the common area just talking to one another, Larry came out of nowhere with a bucket of popcorn he decided to pop for us. He is super generous!! The second is when we were leaving, we were in quite a rush and his wife helped us to call a taxi. We ran out saying bye to who we could. As we shoved into the taxi, Larry barged out of the front door of the hostel to say goodbye and wish us well! He did not want to miss us. You just don’t get this kind of experience at every hostel. Thank...
Read moreLa Antigua Capsula is in a beautifully restored building, close but not too close to everything that's going on in the old town. |The beds are cozy, each with their own privacy curtain, light and power source. Each bed also has its own assigned locker whicb was more than big enough to fit my entire 50L backpack.|Out the back they have a "cold tub", an outdoor kitchen and a second level smoking terrace (so you can smoke if you wish, but no one else has to).|The dorms and bathrooms are cleaned daily and beds are made for you every morning.|The hostel is about a 5 minute walk from the Plaza de Trinidad, which has live street performances and a great atmosphere every night of the week. It's also about an 8 minute walk from the Clock Tower, which is the entrance to the "walled town". The Castillo de San Felipe de Barajas is about a 15 minute walk in the other direction.||All in all I had a great stay at this hostel. The staff were very friendly and helpful with booking tours and I couldn't have...

They have a cold tub which is a hot tub that is not heated to allow you to cool down. The outdoor showers are absolutely wonderful. Of course there are indoor showers and bathrooms as well in each dorm bunking area.
Everything is clean. The room is air conditioned but by selecting a bunk higher up it was not as cool which is my preference when traveling in the tropics.
There is a nice sundeck up high which also can act as a smoking area and an outdoor lounging area with a beautiful lime tree in the middle as well as the air conditioned front that has a small restaurant like area where they serve breakfast.
The hostel is conveniently located in the Bohemian area and close to the historic part of the city. An inexpensive and short taxi ride will take you to the...
