The room I had was not very nice. It had some major defects. But Ive stayed here before and I liked the other rooms on the upper floors very much. The rooms are in genral old fashioned and charming, romantic. The level of service is very appropriate for a full service hotel. And I really think this is the best location in all of Cartagena. I really mean that. Walk 1/2 a block to get a cab for example. Or to enjoy the waterfront on the bay with a beer garden with food trucks just a short walk away. No vendors hassle you at these locations. Just enjoy the breeze and the light off the water. La plazuela del pozo has several great restaurants with low key atmosphere. Of course the Parque de la Trinidad is a special place with world class events and performances every day, and also super friendly place to gather and mingle. This is my favorite hotel in cartagena and as long as I can get a room that does have the light switch outside the room and a huge window where everybody can walk by and see you sprawled out on your bed, and a decent fan with adjustable speeds, then I will keep...
Read moreThe hotel itself was really nice. The room was a bit old-fashioned with wooden furniture but it fit the building and the whole atmossphere. And the beds were comfortable. The bathroom was big and looked renovated. Only the shower was not great as the water pressure was really low at times. In the hotel, there were a bunch of chillout areas with hammocks and sofas as well as a small pool and a jacuzzi which was really cool. The service people were really friendly, only the ones serving breakfast seemed to not having learned what proper service is and didn't put any effort at all. The breakfast itself was really disappointing. The options were very limited and the amount of food was so little that you can barely call it a breakfast. Overall our stay wasn't bad at all but also far from great. Next time I would try...
Read moreWonderful place to stay in Getsemani, 5-15 minute walk to places within Getsemani, and an extra 5 No minutes or so to the old town. Room was great, with a good size safety deposit box, a/c and fan. TV reception was terrible, but you're not there to watch tv. The shower was terrible, a less than lukewarm trickle. No pressure to rinse the soap off you.
The courtyard is beautiful and welcoming. They have a kitten, two dogs and a tortoise. Breakfast was basic, eggs, cereal, some bread, choice of 2 juices (not necessarily sweet) and some fruit.
