Nov 2024 update: This wonderful place continues to captivate. Julia la genia has created so many varied and wonderful dishes. If you are lucky enough to come when the gyoza is available, have it. Really delicious. And now I have a new cacao mug I adore to go with my lovely calendar. 🤎💛🤍
I frequent this marvelous place with wonderfully healthy food, making it my favorite restaurant in the world.
The lasagna is a favorite. Very creative use of tofu and cashew together which gives an authentic texture to a perennial favorite and is also a wonderful flavor combo. This is a great, warm dish on a cool breezy evening in Poblado.
I pretty much always have the tomato watermelon gazpacho. It's texture and flavor are unique and delightful each and every time.
The spring rolls have a great flavor with a fun, bright and authentic dipping sauce. I was quite surprised by the deep fried tofu: it's decidedly inauthentic and detracts from the freshness of the rest of the ensemble. Daniel and Julia said they add it because Colombians like the crunch. Hmm.
I don't do deserts in vegan restaurants as they are often made of coconut which I avoid for the saturated fat content and refined sugars. The figs looked like an interesting topper and man-oh-man was I surprised: this is one of the most interesting plates I've ever had. A lovely amount of chocolate and white sauces with the indescribably delicate fig flower with an intoxicating floral fragrance. Wow. I will be having this often.
Had the watermelon and tomato gazpacho and quinoa and black beans. I was hungry. Incredibly delicious meal for this vegan of almost 50 years. Heading back soon. The kefir drink (not yogurt) was light and fragrant. It sure seemed like a light kombucha.
Update: back again for more gazpacho and to try the Kimchi Funghi toast. Powerful nutrition with both probiotic properties of kimchi and antioxidant value (and possible Vitamin D) of mushrooms. VERY rich. This is probably the closest to a meat dish you'll get out of a vegan restaurant. Very dense, incredibly flavorful, perfectly spiced and seasoned. 💯
The cold case: They are usually out of the canned kimchi to take to go, but the sauerkraut is divine. I'm of german heritage and grew up on all kinds of sauerkraut: this is fresh, at once sweet and bitter and the most delicate pinch of cumin. I have it...
Read moreNice restaurant, but could be better. The first thing i ordered was Papas con queso crema. The taste was 10/10. The potatoes were cooked to perfection - crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. Keep in mind that the portion is small - you'll need something else. The second dish was a Pasta cuatro quesos, which was 9/10 because it was too salty to my taste. But i loved the sause and especially the fried muchroom topping. Again, a small portion, even for a petite person like myself, won't be enough to satiate me. The cheesecake, unfortunately, was my least favourite dish. It was tiny, and the "cheese" part was too sour to my taste. Woun't have it again, 5/10. The Brownie was better, but also a little, and the cake wasn't warm. But the ice cream and the caramel were good, so 6/10. The service was quick, but not particularly warm or caring. I would come again if I'm in the neighborhood, but I wouldn't choose it among other nearby vegan spots if I...
Read moreThe best vegan options in Medellin. Everything on this menu looks incredible. The Pesto pasta was delicious and arrived with a garlic oil bread that was so lovely, I had to order a portion for myself (to go with an amazing noodle stir fry). After eating, I contemplated ordering more mains, just to taste test. Everything I observed arriving at other tables looked equally as good, and were all presented in such a lovely way. The three desert options also look amazing, but I opted for the. Brownie and ice cream. This was so so good, and followed up with a lovely cafetierre coffee.
Really really great dining experience. If I am lucky enough to return to medellin, I'll definitely...
