I’m disappointed to leave this less-than-positive review after what was, for the most part, a promising stay. Let me begin with the positives. The hostel is well-located, clean, and offers comfortable beds with privacy curtains. The staff were generally friendly and helpful, the showers reliably hot, and the free breakfast more than adequate. The overall vibe is welcoming, making it a solid choice.
However, two significant issues overshadowed my experience. First, the hostel lacks a proper indoor social or relaxation area. Aside from a single couch near reception, the only communal space is the balcony - which is a great space but I feel it lacks an indoor space.
The second issue and the reason for my 1 star rating is the alarming lack of security. (For reference there is no luggage storage area - it is just the reception which I understand is common practice in a lot of hostels). On my checkout day, I left a belt on top of my bag. Upon realizing it was missing the next day after I had checked out, I returned to inquire, hoping staff or cleaners had found it. Unfortunately, it was nowhere to be seen. While I take full responsibility for placing it on top of my bag, I requested to review security footage (as a camera was positioned directly over my bag) to determine if it had been moved or taken. To my shock, I was informed that none of the hostel’s cameras are operational.
This negligence is unacceptable. Had the cameras functioned, the situation could have been resolved - especially as I had an exact time line of when the belt could have went missing. For a place accommodating travelers, security is non-negotiable. I’m fortunate it was only a belt—though sentimental—and not a very high-value item. However, this raises serious concerns: How can guests feel safe if thefts (or worse) occur with zero accountability? Legally, I question whether the hostel meets basic insurance or safety requirements without functioning surveillance.
It’s a shame such a glaring oversight tainted an otherwise enjoyable stay. I hope management/ownership addresses this critical issue promptly—for the sake of future guests’ peace of mind and the...
Read moreFast Wifi, Hot Showers, -1 star bc there is a lot of dirt and grime from some of the other guests and they left the kitchen, bathroom, floors, cabinets, and other areas very dirty.
It happens, people get comfortable and then things start slipping, however I've stayed in 5 hostels in 30 days and the other 4 were cleaner.
They just need a set of outside eyes to go thru the hostel one day a week and do a deep cleaning.
-1 star for the lack of support regarding breakfast. 2 eggs and a piece of bread on a plate with no coffee? They should have someone in the kitchen helping guests find what they need and keeping the kitchen clean. Normally I wouldn't mind, however I was kindof tired this week and found it difficult to navigate an unfamiliar and honestly dirty kitchen.
I just ended up buying my breakfast at the Cafe across the street, which is fine, but cost you a star.
Noah Boutique still has the hottest showers and the fastest wifi I've found and that says a LOT.
I wouldn't have removed a star for the dirt and grime, I'm used to it, however 3 of my friends, a colombian, a filipino, and a mexican all commented that it looked dirtier and less organized than a hostel should and I cannot bring my Colombian girl to a place that is dirty and has bugs, it would make her angry and make me look bad.
I saw and killed bugs in the bathroom, kitchen, and dorm. My colombian and filipino amiguitas would be furious with me if I brought them to a hostel with bugs.
The roof top terrace really makes the hostel, I didn't use it bc I prefer to have a place to lay in the sun, like a hammock or a very clean rug and the terrace is setup more like a rooftop bar, except they don't sell beer or coffee. Kindof confusing actually. The roof top terrace is definitely not being used to it's...
Read moreNice enough hostel with a good rooftop and a decent breakfast. Beds are big but uncomfortable but the one we were seems to have been updated since the property pics and have curtains now (albeit ones that fall down easily), the pillows were very lumpy. Quite noisy with street traffic and music and the windows didn’t close but was doable and all fine for the price. It is overall a lot more dated than the pictures.
I was surprised by the bad reviews for this place initially, but for me the staff really brought down my experience. The very overweight female staff member came into my room 5 minutes after checkout while I was closing my bag and started tapping her wrist and told me I had to leave. I had to change my bed in the room before I went to sleep as the top bunk is ridiculously high and I could barely climb up. It also had a 3 foot gap from the wall where the pillow would have kept falling down. I booked that day and there was only me and my friend in the room when I booked so I moved to a lower bunk so I could sleep and be able to actually get in and out of the bed. When I checked out the woman reprimanded me for moving beds and spoke to me like a child, I am a woman in my 30’s. I didn’t appreciate this at all and it left a sour taste in my mouth after what was an otherwise good experience. This is clearly why I was kicked out 5 mins after checkout. If you’re staying here, I’d recommend a bottom bunk only.
Shame as all the other staff were nice except her and I otherwise had a positive opinion of the place before she ruined it so she needs to work on their customer skills before she drives...
