Spent 4n in Los Patios Suites dorms. There are two Los Patios buildings a couple hundred meters from each other. As a guest you’re welcome in both and the WhatsApp group chat is for both. Both have dorms but I think the private rooms are at suites Suites has the rooftop pool & bar closing early evening (so Suites is quiet at night) and a small gym, but no restaurant serving any food. There is a shared kitchen and locked luggage storage (own padlock). Boutique has a rooftop bar open til midnight and a nicer working/chill area separate from the socializing parts, also has a restaurant onsite for breakfast & lunch plus luggage storage. There are plenty of restaurants nearby - omg the cocktails and tacos at El Altar are amaze, I also liked Olivia for Italian.
Reception staff very friendly and helpful. I wasn’t happy with something in my room and they worked with me to find a solution, which I very much appreciated. Lots of activities each evening to join in - if suites feels quite go to the bar at Boutique! They had a cool salsa show when I was there, they do a pub crawl and cooking class. The walking tour offered is with another company but they come get you at the hostel. The pool is very tiny with no loungers but great views (Masaya also had no loungers at their pool). My gripe with the bar was blasting out loud music when 3 separate groups asked to turn it down as everyone was chilling and the bar man refused saying it was a party - but literally no one was in party mode. Read the room man.
Dorms - very clean and in the 4 person it was nice to have the sink outside the toilet/shower so more people could get ready. Good size lockers and places to hang towel and raincoat. Fyi it can rain a lot in medellin so don’t leave the big windows open if you go out for the day… My main issue with the dorms (but it’s the same at Masaya, Viajero, Dreamer) is these individual fans at each bed which operate SO Loudly it’s like a jet plane. They only have one setting, full blast and I found it disrupted my sleep even with earplugs. My 4 person dorm was much nicer than the 6 person dorm - more space and nicer view.
If it matters which building you stay in the text reception to ask which room is in which building, as on their Los patios booking site you chose the specific dorm you want to be in.
As a solo female I felt very safe around the Los patios neighbourhood and walking between the two at night. It’s also walkable to the metro in...
Read moreThis hostel was a great place for me and my 4 friends to stay during our trip to Medellin. The safe Poblado neighborhood had us covered within blocks with bars, restaurants, and other hostels. While not overly touristy, it is a hub for people to stay. A little further from the location is a train station, which opens up travel to the other spots in Medellin that we wanted to visit. Also, so many bars and clubs to walk to if you go a little further to Provencia.
Our room was clean and had a nice view and pretty comfortable beds. The pool and rooftop bar was great with a beautiful view of the city, although it closes early at 8pm.
Arguably the best part of our stay at Los Patios was the staff. Right as we arrived, we realized our friend had left his phone in the Uber. The staff helped us speak with the Uber driver in Spanish while breaking the tension with some games and drinks they were hosting in the lounge. They directed us to the second Los Patios, this location, just a minute walk away. Here, we met Shy, who went above and beyond to help us plan our stay and give us recommendations, set up a tour, extend our stay, no matter how complicated it was. She remembered our whole group by name, and I was genuinely happy to get to know her. I hope we cross paths again. Thank you to Shy and Los Patios. -Will, Chris (Pratt),...
Read moreReally enjoyed our stay in the private queen with balcony. This building is definitely nicer then the other one and the pictures they use in the website are of this building.
We loved that it was more quiet the. The other building because the rooftop closes earlier around 730 pm so if you like a more quiet setting make sure when you book that you are in this building and not the other one.
The views from the room were great and it was nice having AC again (in the other building we only had a fan).
The rooftop pool is a great place to meet people and easy to work up there during the day. There are also many other places to work from including the net and the desks.
The food on the roof was great and the cooking class with Christian was awesome. He was incredibly patient and his passion for what he does really came through.
All in all definitely a solid stay. The only recommendation I would make is find a way to squeeze in a few more cots near the pool as there were not too many places to lay down up there.
The rocker chairs downstairs were incredibly comfortable and another great spot...
