Soy Local Santa Marta — Hotel in Santa Marta

I don't understand how a rating above 8 appeared on booking.com. That rating is impossible. The location of the site is terrible, it looks like an industrial area. Zero tourist. The room smelled terrible, like mold, it was run down, with a broken door, a broken counter, a worn key, the cement block where they had the mattress was cracked, the room keychain was made of cardboard and was run down. The room was initially rented from December 24, 2024 to January 2, 2025, but the disappointment with the site was so great that it was decided to check out on December 28 before 9 am and, obviously, no refund was received and neither did the hotel staff want to check out that date until January 2 when it was not an obligation to stay in that disaster of a hotel. The price versus quality reflects an overly expensive stay. The pool was dirty and the room was only cleaned once out of the 4 days we stayed. If there was a rating of 0, it would be too much for the hotel. I don't recommend it at all and I don't know how Booking.com can have such a high rating...

Check in was quick and easy. I accidentally arrived through the bagel place at the front of the hotel and the person working there showed me how to get to reception.||We had booked an apartment that with two rooms. There were basic facilities there. The rooms were spacious with plenty of space for luggage. However, the paint was peeling off the walls and there were many damp patches. There was black patches on the walls in some areas.|The damp air in the rooms made it at times difficult to breathe and this improved upon leaving the room. ||The swimming pool is small and refreshing. It is in a courtyard with some shade.||The room was noisy and you could hear loud music from other guests during the night. ||There is a staff member at reception 24 hours. However, it was difficult to order a drink at the bar and pay for things in advance. It was only possible to pay at the end of the trip and settling the bill took a long time. The hotel seemed perfect at first but our room smelled of damp, which caused me to get very sick. The service was also strange, in that they would not let us pay for any of our drinks until check out. As we knew we would be in a rush in the morning, we wanted to settle the drinks bill the night before but were not allowed. In the morning, it took half an hour for us to be able to pay, which delayed us. The other things was that there was a man of around 50 years old by the pool with a Colombian girl who could be anywhere between 14 and 20 but looked incredibly young, the man was paying for her company (I overheard conversations) but the hotel did nothing. Anyone seeing that couple together or hearing their conversations would have done something. I asked the girl if she was alright and she said she was, but I’m surprised the hotel allowed this type of thing to happen, and I hope they checked...
