BeerTown — Restaurant in Santa Marta

I ordered a Mediterranean salad which came completely doused in vinegar. I immediately raised an issue about it with the server. The server then debated whether the dish could be made any differently. Then after my offer to switch it to a Caesar, there was debate about the dressing having vinegar (what the???). Finally after about 15 minutes it came clear that the Caesar would be entered. It took a whole 45 minutes to arrive. Meanwhile my girlfriend and a friend have finished their meals and a bucket of beer.

Best part is when the check comes. He’s added the second salad in spite of his arguments to replacing it. Then you have to flag him away from the bar where he’s chatting with the other servers and glancing over at us, only to turn away at the first point of eye contact. We point out the double charge on the salad and he acts confused. Oh my .......

Finally to top it all off was his automatically applied gratuity of 10%.

To be honest, I like going to places where I am challenging myself to think positive about the service and food. As I see most of the reviews complaining about the service, I decided to enter and judge myself the whole thing.

First thing I saw was the couple that sings. They sang beautifully and many of the songs were known by me. So, I was recording them and singing. I sat there for about 40 minutes and no one moved to ask me what to order. Instead, I called two waiters and finally the sent the waitress assigned to the table. My waitress was a Venezuelan lady who was very kind. She even took a pic for us.

It is loud there. If you want to have a conversation, sit outside or inside far away from the salon in the entrance.

I liked Beertown a lot, there was good atmosphere and the live performances were great! Food wise, we ordered ribs, which were fall of the bone yummy (was not expecting that!), a shrimp cocktail (shrimp were fresh and bite size, the onions were a bit too much and too big for me. The plantain chips were delicious dipped in the cocktail sauce). We also ordered burgers which were juicy and huge! Lol Cocktails had the regular and blue margaritas, they were ok, but nothing to brag about. The caipirinhas and mojitos were the stars...
