The hotel staff was fairly friendly, The rooms were clean, the maid service was daily, the air condition was cold and the water was hot. Usually that is about all I ask for and I am happy with the hotel. as nice as these things were, I still had a few issues that were not and probably will not ever be resolved.|-1)The view from the rooftop was very nice, however, you could not see the water. -2)We went through Booking.com for about $73 per night, ($368 USD= ~1,100,000 COP). When we checked in there was a sign on the reception desk promoting a weekly special of 700,000 COP for a week. I asked if we could have the weekly special and the receptionist told me he would message the owner. I sent a private message to the owner and never got a response. When we went back down to go for a walk the receptionist told us that he had heard from the owner and the owner told him the promotion was no longer in effect. The sign had been taken down from the desk. We would have paid for the seven day promotion and only stayed five of those days. |-3) If you get a room there ask for a room away from the street or you will hear every pushcart vendor in Santa Marta roll his metal pushcart on the cobblestone street starting about 4:45 AM.||Now for the real bait & switch. Of the five days we were there we only had breakfast twice as we were fishing two days and had to leave early for the airport on our last day.|We were told the breakfast was complementary. |-4)What we were not told was if you ordered more than two eggs you would be charged for the extra eggs. |-5)We were also not told that if you did not take the eggs the way they wanted to cook them, scrambled, you would be charged extra to Cook them Overeasy (which they were not, they were cooked over hard, I guess will be the only way to describe them). |-6)We were also charged for adding cheese to the eggs. |None of this was explained to us until we were ready to check out.|-7)Also I drank one of the club Columbia beers in the refrigerator but I had bought a six pack of Andina beer and only drink one of those. So I left them five of my beers giving them 4 more beers in the refrigerator than when I arrived. Well that wasn’t good enough for them, so they charged me another 5000 Colombian pesos.||Oh well, overall an average stay, but...

Read moreThis accommodation did not match the expectations set by the description and photographs on Booking.com. The furniture and equipment were in very poor condition – some items were literally falling apart in our hands. We were informed that there was no hot water available in the property. Spending 8 nights without hot water was highly inconvenient, even though the weather was warm. According to the booking details, the reserved room was supposed to be 45 m². However, the assigned room (No. 101) appeared to be significantly smaller. The minibar in our room also did not seem to function properly, as it did not cool items as expected. Overall, the accommodation provided was not consistent with the description, photographs, or our expectations when making the reservation.
However, we would like to highlight the professional approach of the hotel manager. After we expressed our dissatisfaction to the staff in the restaurant/bar, she personally came to meet us and, within an hour, arranged for us to be transferred to another Alma Hotels property. There, we were provided with accommodation that much better met our expectations.
This hotel gave the impression of having seen better days, and we would strongly encourage the owner to invest in renovations. While the photos online looked appealing, they clearly reflect a much earlier state of...
