Booked a 3-day trip to La Guajira
La Guajira is a wonderful place, but DONT GO with this agency...!
My advice if you wish to make a trip there:
The way there and back is by far the most beautiful part of the trip.
The best way there is to go is by yourself to Riohacha Cabo de la Vela Punta Gallinas and find drivers there to bring you to the different spots and beaches on the way. It’s cheaper and more flexible, but not for everyone of course.
Or hire an agency. It’s simpler but make sure that : you can chose where you eat at Cabo de la vela once you are there at night (it’s super safe and you can take time to go through the market while choosing your restaurant). Say that you will pay for it, the food is cheap and really good.
you do sleep at Cabo de la Vela and not in some place nearby (the name is Uttah I think. It’s just awful)
!! you don’t take Wiwa (Santa Marta) or Wayuu Tours (Riohacha) for your agency ;) it was ours and we chose very poorly...
Once you begin the trip, you will stop at a market to buy Water and Candies to offer to the kids on the way. Understand that your driver and the agency are not Wayuu (indigenous), they kind of keep he population « happy » by offering these treats. However, all these food packagings end up on the ground and are slowly ruining the landscape and the candies are also the only food the kids will get...
My advice — just buy apples and other fruits easy to transports ! And Big bottles of water they can reuse afterwards. It’s the most convenient way for you to limit your impact on this incredible...
Read moreIf you want to go to the lost city, do it with Wiwa as it is their home! They are super generous sharing explanations about their culture and knowledge and can definitely make this experience much more authentic and interesting than with a classical Colombian guide. If you don't speak Spanish, ask them to provide you with a translater as they...
Read moreMy brother and I had an awesome time hiking to Ciudad Pérdida with this agency. Our guide, Gabo, was indigenous to this area and was incredibly knowledgeable about the land and it’s importance. He was an excellent guide! There’s no way to understand so much about this area without having someone like him to explain it....
