El Coloso Arenal — Restaurant in La Fortuna

We went out for dinner and tried this restaurant our first night in La Fortuna. The food was horrible out of 5 of us that ate there only 1 said their dinner was good. The kids chicken nuggets were disgusting they tasted like freezer burn, the churrasco plate was not good, the Costa Rican taco meat was over cooked and dry, and the chifrijo bowel was not good the pork was very hard. The service was horrible, the waitress seemed like she was ready to go to sleep, we were not welcomed in and she didn't introduce herself. The owner herself was sitting at the table behind us eating and the waitress asked if she could give us a discount since no one ate the food and she said yes, all she took off was $8 out of an $80 bill for food that wasn’t good and no one ate. I DO NOT RECOMMEND...

Good Food at a good price. Whether you're on a budget, a cheap a$$, got a family of hungry mouths to feed on your vacation or you just looking for some good food, definitely worth stopping in. Honestly I don't get why Ashley and Nicole are complaining other than the fact that their experiences are based on narrow mindedness and unrealistic expectations. I feel like Ashley's experience with "Mexican" and Central American cuisine is limited to Chipotle and Tijuana Flats... And Nicole, she's just an angry person, probably mad she didn't see any sloths. But that's just my opinion. Either way I say Pay no mind to them and just check it out, if you don't like it then you can...

Overall, Coloso Arenal is a fantastic restaurant for couples. We visited twice during our trip and were extremely satisfied both times. The meals were excellent and the servers, Priscilla and Christopher, were very attentive. The cuisine is a blend of traditional Costa Rican dishes with a bit of a twist for tourists. The view is amazing, especially at sunset, and the garden is a lovely touch. We also loved the fruit juice, which had a unique and delicious taste. The tacos, steaks, and other items we tried were all tasty and beautifully presented. We give Coloso Arenal a 4 out of 5 star rating and would highly recommend it to other couples...
