Rana Roja — Restaurant in La Fortuna

One of the worse service we have encountered in Costa Rica. We went for lunch. We were a group of 10. The food was okay. Some were decent, but the others were just SOOOO SALTY. I ordered the churrasco medium rare and they gave me a well done and the only thing I could taste was how salty it was. I didn’t complained nor commented on it, I just ordered more rice to cover the salt. The worse part was the customer service was the though. We were never asked how the food was. We had to stand up in order to get their attention even though we were the only table left by then. It was my sister’s birthday so we politely asked if we could bring out the cake and they agreed. Knowing that, they never offered for new small plates. I know it was not part of the lunch, therefore, we just ate them with the napkins. However, if you do work in a tourist spot, willingness to assist your customers is a must which we were neglected of. Horrible food for the price. Ceviche is 14 dollars and it is not good at all. I ordered a greek salad and it came with a cremy dressing. Vegetables had a chemical taste to it. I know greek salad is not a specialty around here. I paid 40 bucks for 2 appetizers and a small marguarita. Food is expensive.. lack quality and taste. To be fair this is a costa rica thing. You go to other countries in the area ( Mexico , Colombia) and you feel that they have a good culture even if you grab something from a street vendor. Not here. It was our last day here and we wanted to grab breakfast before heading back to the airport which was about 2 1/2 hrs away. We would have went to Red Frog Coffee, but there were no open seatings, so we walked across and found this spot, it looked like there was only 1 young lady working doing everything herself , took about 20 min for our drinks , 40 min for our food!
