Came here for a deep tissue massage, ended up getting pet.

Me and my wife came in to get a deep tissue massage, thinking a hotel of this caliber would have decent services. Unfortunately, it did not.

The spa itself is just a small room big enough for 2 beds. Has a bathroom on the side with a shower.

We had booked a massage for 530pm, but were not brought in till 6pm, they were running late from previous appointments.

We quickly disrobed and waited for the theripists. By the time they came in, it was 615.

They begun the massage strong but quickly tapered off to a rub down more than anything. I had asked a couple times to add more pressure. No such luck.

To make matters worse.. it was freezing in the room. It's currently 16 degrees and raining in Monteverde, and I'm in shorts and a tee-shirt totally fine. My wife is in pants, a sweater and jacket. And is still cold.  All I could keep thinking was how cold my wife must be if I'm this cold.

They finished promptly at 659pm 45 min in even though we had paid for a hr.

They were friendly and professional but were not necessarily up to the task of a deep tissue.

We brought our concerns up with the front staff before leaving, requesting a partial refund as we had already booked another appointment elsewhere first thing in the am to hopefully work out some kinks that were left untreated.

Kaysei was polite and prompt, then proceeded to run it up the chain of managers, but they would not provide anything useful.

We were offered another massage, but we had made it very clear we were leaving in the am the next day, and would not be able to accept.

We were not keen on complaining, but the price nor the description matched the...

Having read another review about poor management decisions about refunds and discounts, clearly this hotel has not learned how to treat customers.

We are here with our 6 year old daughter for my wife's Birthday. We went all out, booking the nicest room available, since we haven't had a vacation since the pandemic started.

When we checked in there was a small puddle of water on the floor from a leak in the roof. We informed the front desk, though nothing was done about it through the next day as far as we can tell.

Come this evening and the rain started hard again, and now the leak has turned into a deluge. We reported it again and a towel squad arrived, and we told them this isn't acceptable. The option of moving rooms when we are here for 1 more night wasn't very appealing (we have a ton of unpacked luggage, packing it up for 1 night isn't my idea of a fun time). What we expect in a situation like this is some level of refund. This is not the room we paid for!

The manager, in his foolish absence, being called by the front desk, offered us a 50% discount on our MEAL. Yes you read that right. Apparently a leaky roof is worth a snack. This manager needs his head checked. They saw how upset we were with the meal offer and upped it to paying off the entire meal. As if that wasn't going to upset us more.

And yes the wifi isn't great. We resorted to our phone's LTE more often than the wifi due to the speed of it, even in good weather.

Let me be clear: The leaky roof sucks but sh*t happens. It's how you deal with it that...

So, we were very disappointed in this hotel. It is a pretty hotel, and has the potential to be great, but our stay was not good at all. First let me say I love when hotels are eco friendly and bravo to them for being so! Truly. It is a very serious and important thing for tourism to be sustainable. With that being said, here is what was NOT good about this hotel….first the beds were Not good at all, very hard and dipped in. Pillows were good, but bed definitely was not. Maybe this was just our experience, but I found this hotel to be VERY noisy…the doors slam shut, and no it wasn’t just the guests, the doors themselves slam then add on top of that, this hotel has no air conditioning(not the issue) which means windows open and airflow is important, but if you had your windows open for airflow you had NO PRIVACY, and then with the windows open you can hear every fricken thing, and guests on top of that were exceptionally noisy. The restaurant food was all around disappointing, doesn’t matter if it was breakfast lunch or dinner, it was not good, we ended up finding better cafes nearby. On the positive the staff was friendly and the hotel pretty with walking paths and different areas for privacy. Also, the massage we booked was terrible…it was legitimately just an oil rub down. Not good at all. Would not return...

The hotel is just okay. There is no a/c and I understand they are trying to be sustainable but the least they could do is have a small fan for the room. Our room had a small 2x2 window that opened which didn’t give any airflow. The room just felt stuffy all the time! The bathroom doesn’t have a fan so even our fresh towels were damp 24/7. Nothing dries here including any water coming from the shower or sink. The door isn’t even properly sealed to the frame and the deadbolt didn’t work so it didn’t feel very safe. You can hear EVERYTHING because there is no proper seals to any door. No mini fridge so we couldn’t keep drinks cold or bring home food. Everyday our towels seem to dwindle. Started with 4 bath towels and the next day only had two and the following day our face clothes were gone. It’s clean in the room and the sheets had a strong cleaner smell. The hotel it’s self is nice to walk around but it smells like a sewer system near the entrance and the ramp to the pool. Drinks at the bar are good and the breakfast was good. Overall would not recommend this place.

Expensive hotel just away from the vmcentre of St Elena. The grounds were having a makeover when we werecthere and they include an interesting firest walk (even more interesting at night!). There is a pool and jacuzzi which provided welcome relaxation. There is a bar at the pool too. The restaurant is quite large and the bar there has a Happy Hour - but be warned, it ends at precisely 5:30. The food is ok and at busy times, orders can take a long time to fulfill. Staff are great, especially Andres and Amhilita. The rooms are tired. The shower, for me, was the best part. There is limited clothing storage but during the rainy season, everything feels damp. The hotel owners could do with providing some sort of drying facility. There are covered walkways to the rooms, but these can get noisy when you're trying to sleep. There is parking too. The hotel is right across the road from a large collection of retail experiences at good prices.
