Choco Café Restaurante y Cafetería — Restaurant in Monteverde

We simply had one of the best meals in a long time, especially here in Costa Rica. We shared the bruschetta with burrata as a starter, which was fantastic. Choosing a main course was very difficult due to all the great options that were available. Eventually, we chose the green ravioli and the Beef Tenderloin Argentina; both were absolutely amazing! The beef was perfectly cooked (medium) and was very tender. The ravioli had a great sauce which was almost addicting. For desser we shared a piece of berry cheesecake. I had a tradional cappuccino with it and my fiancé had a hot chocolate (Chocolate caliente). The cappuccino was absolutely fantastic. It was the perfect mixture of strong espresso and fluffy milk. The hot chocolate was very good as well.

To finish, the staff and owner were lovely people and service was great. The owner was very polite and came to ask on several occasions what our opinion was on the food.

We had such a gorgeous meal here — everything from the food to the service was absolutely spot on. The team was warm, genuine, and so kind — it really felt like being welcomed into someone’s home.

I had the salmon with a creamy Parmesan, dill, and peppercorn sauce, cooked exactly medium, just how I like it, and it was melt-in-your-mouth delicious. The steak with Gorgonzola sauce was equally amazing, tender and rich with just the right amount of bite. And the fries? Golden, crispy, and seasoned to perfection. Muy rico!

They also have an incredible selection of house-made desserts. We chose the warm brownie with ice cream — gooey in the middle, crisp on the edges, and everything a brownie should be. Total heaven.

Highly recommend if you’re after a meal that’s both comforting and memorable. It’s a little more expensive than some of the neighbouring restaurants but totally...

I stopped in for Cappuccinos, hot chocolate and to try the pasties. The price wasn’t over the top and the outdoor seating in the evening was really nice. Cheesecakes were ok, but not anything special. My review is primary based on the service and experience. I ordered the passion fruit & coconut chocolate cheesecake. The servers seamed disinterested in serving us even though there were only three tables of guests and somewhat a slow evening. We had to wave down the server to take our order. We then received our coffees and had to wait what seemed a little under 10 minutes or so for our cheesecakes that were in the case to be served. This made our coffees colder once we received our desserts. We then waited for someone to acknowledge us to pay. Once we waited a while, we flagged the server down again to get our check.
