This place is quite large, with a pricier menu compared to most, but it offers a unique dining experience. They have live music after 7 PM, and the performer tonight was incredible—good enough to be on the radio. The massive tree growing through the restaurant adds a cool and memorable touch to the atmosphere.
The menu is extensive, including a good variety of drinks, though the liquor is on the expensive side. I ordered the chicken fettuccine with cream sauce (requested no mushrooms), and while it was tasty, it was more like a chicken fettuccine soup than a classic cream sauce dish. My wife had the spaghetti with six different vegetables, which came topped with a generous amount of melted mozzarella. If you love cheese, this will be perfect; if not, it’s something to keep in mind. Aside from the cheese, she really enjoyed her meal.
For dessert, I had the banana crumble, which was delicious and came with ice cream—a nice surprise since it wasn’t mentioned on the menu. My wife tried the crema catalana con maracuyá (similar to crème brûlée) and said it was very good.
On top of it all, Henry, our server, was fantastic—very attentive and provided excellent service. Overall, a solid experience with great highlights worth...
Read moreCame by at night because it looked really cool and pretty. The restaurant is really built around a giant tree. There was live music and pretty lights. Definitely a cute place, could even be nice for a romantic dinner. There were a few vegan options, but not tons to choose from. The ceviche my friends ordered was VERY small and it came with two small plantain cakes. Why do the only give two? It's very strange. The ceviche was so strong in lime, it wasn't pleasant to eat especially without any chips or crackers. I ordered a curry veggie wrap which oddly came with rice. It was good but not amazing. We weren't impressed by the food considering it was more expensive than other place in the area. The best thing was my friend's salad. She said she really enjoyed the seafood and the actual salad was fresh and flavorful. Customer service was good and they were more attentive than standard costa rican restaurants probably because it's such a touristy spot and know travelers tend to tip even if tip is already included. We had high expectations for this place, but you end up paying for the experience more than anything. Overpriced but not worth it. There are other places nearby with better food...
Read moreGiving it a 3 for decor. Not sure where all the 5 ratings are coming from . The food was horrible . I guess this is what happens when you are in Costa Rica and eat too much Casada plates , you wanna try some American type food. The ribs were so bland and tasted like they were boiled too long , not sure what kind of sauce it was but too sweet and there was some type of vegetable /potato medley , you think they could spare a little extra .
My fiancé had a burger , he said it was alright . Looked much more appetizing , the beer selection for a restaurant wasn’t that great . Seems like the norm for Costa Rica . Everyone boasts IPA , craft beer etc on draft , you sit down and try to order one and they don’t have anything decent .
A Facebook person I met through the Costa Rica travel page said I’d love this place , eh not so much , service was blah also .but it is a unique and pretty restaurant, not much of a tantalizing menu . Thank goodness we are at San Lucas Tree Too the next night. That had a “Wow” factor . Wasn’t...
