Read moreBeautiful place to spend the afternoon! So educational, enriching, and enjoyable. At first, we thought the $14 ticket price might be a little high, but it's well worth it to help maintain this little paradise. We arrived, by chance, 30 minutes before the guided tour, which worked out perfectly. Give yourself time to wander on your own before the tour begins – that way you can truly appreciate what the guide teaches you. You see, many of the orchids are very tiny, not like the ones we see in florists and supermarkets (he'll educate you about this), so through independent observation we missed a lot of treasures. But during the tour we learned how and where to look for the beauty (they will provide you with a magnifying glass). Then we spent time after the tour looking around and simply relaxing in the lovely space. Our time at the Garden prepared us for other adventures such as El Bosque night nature walk and Selvatura hanging bridges, because we learned how to spot things that we would've certainly missed had we not taken advantage of this wonderful tour. So do yourself a favor and visit Monteverde Orchid Garden early in your visit to the area so you will make the most of your total...
Read moreBeyond fantastic if you are interested in orchids. Andres, our guide, was remarkable. I don't know how he knew so much! He translated all the questions and answers both ways, leaving out nothing.

And I love the live and let live and let nature take it's course that they exemplify. There is actually a purpose to mosquitoes. He also explained how if a bug destroys an orchid, they don't kill off the big bc it has a benefit to another plant. Such a different perspective than how I've been raised in my culture. They just make sure they have enough plants so if one goes down, there is another still alive somewhere else to continue it's species survival in their garden.
When looking from the outside, I was doubtful what apparently was a tiny place would have souch to offer. It...
