Guest house Kalauz — Hotel in Dubrovnik

Upon arrival we were greeted by a very friendly lady who could have been our long lost aunt. A huge smile and lots of offer of drinks, in particular local coffee. We were a little early so we waited on the balcony over looking new Dubrovnik until she finished our room before we were shown to it. It was a lovely spacious room, with a comfy bed and all very clean. We then found out that because no one else was staying at the same time for the next two days she gave us full use of the apartment room and balcony as well. She also regularly called her son (a taxi driver) to give us a lift to the Old Town and then to the bus station when we left - free of charge. ||||The only slight problem was the distance away from the Old Town. It was probably a 15-20 minute walk each time you wanted to get down to the Old Town of Dubrovnik and up a hill, some parts very steep, but thanks to the host's son, we didn't have to walk it every time. Mt wife and I stayed in this apartment in the summer. The view from the balcony is absolutely stunning and it is worth sitting outside to see the sunset over Dubrovnik and the Elaphiti islands between 7.30pm and 8pm. It is very romantic! ||||The apartment is a 10 minute from 3 local supermarkets, a 30 minute walk to Pile gate in Dubrovnik old town, 20 minutes to the harbour and Skar winery. Thus it is not necessary to hire a car when visiting. It takes 30 minutes in a taxi to get from Dubrovnik airport. This costs €35 for two people each way. The cost of food locally is similar to prices elsewhere in Europe. ||||As has been mentioned by other reviewers on Tripadvisor we found the hosts to show exceptional hospitality and we look forward to staying in touch with them in the future. This brings to mind the excellent customer service in Dubrovnik.||||I thoroughly recommend these hosts and this property to all visitors...
