Booked on booking.com as it looked like lovely accommodation with the added bonus of a hot tub. ||Arrived by taxi, found reception and called the number left on the desk. A gentleman arrived, checked us in and gave us some tips and a map of the local area including 'tourist traps' to avoid. ||He took us up to our room, showed us around, asked if everything was OK and left us to unpack. ||Icy guesthouse is set in the hillside and comprises of several different rooms across four levels. Our room, on the top floor comprised of a terrace with two swing chairs, a bistro set and a hot tub, with the most stunning view, a kitchen area (complete with fridge freezer, kettle, hob, oven and washing machine), dining table, sofa with TV, double bed and shower room. ||After unpacking we visited a local supermarket and stocked up on breakfast essentials, water, beer and wine (closest studenmac). ||There are several small and medium well equipped supermarkets nearby, however if you're travelling without a car just prepare for the return steps. ||We found the accommodation to be extremely well equipped, comfortable and the view on the terrace was just spectacular. Not necessarily an easy climb to access after a full day of exploring the city, however if this is an issue we used Uber taxis (booked on the app), and never cost more than €6.50 to either the main city or Lapad). Its about a 20 - 25 (downhill walk) to Old Town, longer on the climb back up. ||My only complaint which really does need addressing would be that the hot tub desperately needs a clean as it's got a lot of limescale in it. ||There is a communal kitchen on the ground floor, with a coffee machine and a microwave and also a large terrace area with various seating.||If we are ever in Dubrovnik again we would definitely rebook to stay at...

I stayed at Icy House in Dubrovnik for four nights and overall, it was a pleasant and memorable experience — especially thanks to the incredibly warm and kind host, Mr. Mato. From the moment I arrived, he made me feel welcome. He’s a genuine and sympathetic man who shares the property with his seven cats, all of which he rescued from a nearby trash bin years ago. The cats now freely roam the complex, adding charm and a sense of homeliness. There’s also a sweet little turtle in the garden that enjoys snacking on pineapple and melon — a lovely touch of nature.
The rooms were smaller than I expected, but it didn’t really take away from the overall comfort. The bed was decent, and the shower was surprisingly excellent — strong pressure and very relaxing, even though the bathroom itself was on the compact side.
The house has a shared kitchen area, which felt a bit like being in a “Big Brother” setting at first — sharing the space with other guests took some getting used to. That said, everyone kept to themselves and it was generally peaceful. Sauna and fitness room were also available and free to use.
Getting to Old Town was easy: Uber rides were available quickly and cost just over €8 one way. If you're driving, be aware that the roads leading to the house are narrow and winding — typical for Dubrovnik's hilly terrain, so drive carefully.
In the end, Icy House gave me a cozy and heartwarming stay. What stood out the most was Mr. Mato hospitality, his love for animals, and the quiet, homey feel of the place. If you're looking for a simple but welcoming base to explore Dubrovnik, this is definitely worth...
Read moreLovely guesthouse, nice, clean and very quiet to stay. Staff very welcoming but not always visible, which is expected from a guesthouse. Be prepared for this of its your first time in Dubrovnik so you have a rough idea where you are going. ||Getting public transport is slightly difficult but the owner of the guesthouse give us a lift to the ferry terminal which I thought was amazing for him to go out of his way for no cost!||If arriving from the airport, recommend a private taxi as the guesthouse is quite a way up the hill and the last thing you want is climbing with your luggage! Once settled though, the walk up to the guesthouse isn't bad. ||Room was cleaned daily and lovely balcony area just to chill out. If you want to walk to the old town, turn right from the guesthouse and there is a set of stairs next to the lamppost. At the bottom.of them turn left and 20 yards ahead is another right turn down the steps. At the bottom of them, turn left and walk until you get to the big junction, walk across in the same direction and you will start to see Dubrovnik old town and some signs. About 15mins...
