We stayed in the room with balcony and ensuite on Tivatska street for a weeks holiday. |After I booked the holiday I received a very informative email with information from taxis to trips. I booked our taxis to and from the airport with them as it was less hassle. This means that the driver called them as we approached and we were greeted at the drop off point and shown to our room as well as being offered a cold glass of juice and showed a map. Perfect check in. |The room itself is situated in a family building, this is a guesthouse and has a home stay feel to it. Everyone was very friendly and very nice and couldn't help enough. The lady who seemed to run it even said if we wanted tea or coffee in the morning to knock on her door and she would make us one which was very sweet of her. The room is basic I guess but wasn't missing anything and some bits seemed new! Brand new shower curtain, new kettle, new hairdryer, new bin and toilet brush in bathroom, towels and bed linen were newish and the air con and wifi worked perfectly! The balcony had lovely views and it was nice sitting out there in an evening as the area is very peaceful. |My only very slight negative is that sometimes the water in the shower got cold, but it was so hot outside that sometimes this was refreshing and it was only if one of us took too long to start with. |The walk down to town took 15-20mins walks and was no problem. The walk back up did take a little longer, not as bad at night when the sun had set but when walking back from the beach it was hot and tough on the stairs but still only added another 5min or so on. There are several guest houses and rooms in this area though, so it is not uncommon and is fine for younger people, I wouldn't recommend it to anyone that has difficulty with steps in the heat but it was ok for us for the week and for the price you won't find anywhere closer to town for the same money. |We spoke to the lady that ran the guesthouse at least once a day. She was always giving us suggestions of places to visit, although there is no cleaning service in the room (it's a guesthouse not a hotel) she did ask if we needed clean towels, bed linen or bin emptying. We just asked for a change of towels and she was more than happy to help. |I really recommend this place, if you are looking for somewhere to base yourself while in Dubrovnik and just want somewhere to shower and sleep and possibly chill for a little while then this is defiantly a good option for you, a no fuss, clean and peaceful room with a...
Read moreAfter initial troubles with finding the room on Tivatska street (accommodation is available at two addresses - our was at on Tivatska and there was no house number provided from booking.com) we were actually pleased with it. ||There is no reception so be aware that you would have to arrange with the Guest House for somebody to wait there for you - it is good to have their phone number handy as we did to ring in case it cannot be located. Parking is on the main street and the apartment is accessible through quite a bit of steps so will not be suitable for disabled visitors. Location is good, there is a bus stop nearby for those who don't want to walk to Old Town which is 15-20 minutes away from the Guest House. Room is basic but comfortable and price is really good value for money. Bed was very comfortable. It has a fridge and a small table to eat your meal at but that is about it. I would have been pleased if it had a kettle - something really necessary if you rent a self catering apartment and a hair dryer would have been nice. Also I was a bit surprized with the lack of room service - our room hasn't been tidied up once during our 5 day stay - I don't mind my bed not being made up for me but things like bin and swiping the floors is usually part of the deal or am I moaning here? We haven't seen the owner once since checking in so I cannot comment and we also struggled to find anybody to check out at the end of our stay. Location, view and price that are the main advantages of Guest House Kono but - customer service skills on Tivatska accommodation need...
Read moreWe stayed here for a week at the end of August. The thing that sold it for us was the balcony with the amazing view - and we weren't dissapointed! We got uninteruppted views across the Lapad and Babin Kuk regions, right to the new town port. The sunsets every night were unreal! |The apartment itself was very basic. There was no oven and only 2 small stoves. The bedrooms were a decent size as there were only 3 of us but I think if there were anymore, it would have felt quite cramped. It was fine for our needs but if you wanted to spend more time there, I would book somewhere with a bit more facilities. The host was very welcoming. We had an issue with the TV and air con, and as soon as we mentioned it to Marco, it was fixed straight away. |The only thing I didn't like was sharing an entrance with the other apartment. Because the bedroom with 3 single Beds is right beside the door, you can hear the other guests coming in and out every time so it can get noisy.|The walk down to the old town was fine but I would stay away from this place if you dont like steps (there is a number 3 bus that takes you right outside the apartment) as there are ALOT (but without being that high, you wouldn't get the amazing view so you do have to take the good with the bad!). |We would recommend this apartment if your looking for great views and no a no frills,...
