You can get to start of this path from nearby bus stop if using public transport for no.3 bus.Otherwise off busy carriageway. There is signage for start of path near trees and vegetation. The path itself is very rough with small boulders, stones and loose gravel;it is a defined path for majority of path however at the start of path by main road can be a bit confusing thus best to use mapping app such as Google maps.I would strongly recommend sturdy hiking boots for this path;as my 4 yr old all terrain goretex trainers came apart at the front on the right trainer on the way up due to the severity of this path;gradient is typically not steep due to zigzag route up;views up and down are breathtaking and arguably better than from the cable car even though the path is very rough;I have walked up mountain paths in the UK and would rate this difficult overall unless you have sturdy footwear. You have to fully concentrate to avoid any mishaps or potential accidents all along the path especially at the start from the busy road and near the top of path. The views however as previously mentioned are amazing on a clear sunny day. Also take plenty of liquids;I would recommend a minimum of 2 ltrs but ideally 3 ltrs on a sunny hot day if going up and down and not buying a drink from the shop or restaurant at the summit.

If you want the real view from the top you should take this trail on foot. It is really easy, except some rocky parts. The biggest challenge for us was the heat, so make sure you have a big bottle of water with you, a hat, quality clothes and comfy shoes. Once you get up, you will be tented to go where everybody goes: at the cable car. The view is not so good from there, due to the cables and the restaurant that cancels the entire vibe of a mountain peak. But, if you are out of water, you can go up, in the building, and buy some, along with an icecream. We've heard people complaining about the cable car ride for not offering nice views due to the cables who are in the way and also being expensive for those 3 minutes. We totally recommend to walk the trail and enjoy the views and the energy for around one hour up and 45 minutes down.

This is the best way up to the fort even if the cable car is running. It is slightly paved but is still very rough terrain, saw a few people trying it in sandals and flip flops in the rain which is just sheer stupidity. The first part is an earthen path until it comes to gravel and stone path after. It snakes back and forth across the mountain face. At each turn it seems to have a station of the cross bronze.( at least that's what I think it is). Utterly fantastic views across the old city the new city out to the new port and the islands beyond, once you get past the tree line. Surprisingly lots of thistles a lot more than I have ever seen in Scotland which I thought was funny

walking up to this place is amazing and worthwhile. the cable car is 37 euro to and fro, totally uncalled for. moreover the zig zag trail up is STATIONS OF THE CROSS!!! EVEN MORE MEANINGFUL FOR THE PIOUS! u can get to the start of the trail using Bus 3A at pile gate. check the timetable as this bus is infrequent. remember to ask the driver to drop u at the stop near the entrance to the trail. the stop is around 10 mins once the bus is enters Jadranska cesta road. the bus driver dropped me too soon and i had to walk 2km on a dangerous highway. driver unhelpful and uncalled for. once on top of mt srd, u can walk the long way to Bosanka to take Bus 17 back to pile gate OR go down the same zig zag path and take Bus 3 back to pile gate. REMEMBER BUS SERVICE IN DUBROVNIK IS BAD!!! BUS DOESN'T STOP IF U DON'T FLAG. i have to stand further out on the road as the bus stop is hidden and the bus just zoomed by. frequency could be hourly as certain...
