€72 for what might honestly be the worst meal I’ve had in my entire life. I ordered the Risotto Buzara, but what I got looked more like a rejected dog food experiment than anything meant for humans. The mussels were overcooked, flavorless, and downright offensive. And the scampi? Singular. As in one lonely, sad little shrimp floating in the middle of the chaos.
When I told the waiter the mussels were awful, he came back saying “the chef tasted them and said they were fine.” Where did they find this chef? My guess: an American prison cafeteria or similiar.
Oh, and the wine? It was the kind of pour that makes you want to sniff the glass just to prolong the experience. As in almost nothing at all.
In summary: I’ve never felt so scammed. Even a Chicken Salsa from McDonald’s would have been a five-star alternative. Avoid this place like the plague – or like a plate of Buzara Risotto from this kitchen.
EDIT:
I see that you have responded to my review by calling me a fraud. Let me be clear: in this situation, it’s not me—but you—who should be called out for dishonest practices.
To anyone reading this: I can assure you my plate was not “wiped clean” as the so-called chef claims. I carefully picked out all the mussels and placed them on a side plate, and ate maybe a third of the risotto. I did, of course, taste the single scampi that came with the dish—especially considering the price I paid for it.
I have never, and will never, attempt to defraud anyone. I am perfectly able to pay for myself. I am highly educated, have a solid income, and come from one of the wealthiest and most economically stable countries in the world. So that accusation is not only unfounded—it’s downright insulting.
Maybe you should try to listen to your customers next time they make a complaint about your food, and do something about it.
And yes—in this case, I would choose McDonald’s 10 times out of 10.
To everyone else: stay away...
Read moreFratellos is a beautiful outdoor restaurant just a 15 minute walk outside of old town Dubrovnik. The views are phenomenal, as it’s perched up high, right on the water.
Their kitchen is open to the back dining area of the restaurant which creates such a great vibe to see all the chefs getting the delicious meals together!
We made reservations so we could be there during sunset, and that plan did not disappoint. We started our meal with some delicious drinks and a cheese platter appetizer. It had four different cheeses, nuts, pretzels and a jelly jam. Our main courses were delicious! We got potato gnocchi & Scampi, and fettuccine with lobster and muscles. 🫶🏻 We topped the night off with some prosecco and another old fashioned.
We recommend making reservations. The Bar area is lower and closer to the water, the dining area is higher and set back a bit with limited seating and an incredible ocean view. Either spot is great! We made reservations for the restaurant but requested an ocean view.
The restaurant is also next to an outdoor movie theater, that shows movies a few nights a week during the summer. After sunset the night we were there a movie started playing and it was very cool to have in the background. You couldn’t hear the movie, but a very unique experience added to the...
Read moreFratelos Bar has a truly beautiful location with a perfect sea view, a charming ambiance, and soft jazz playing in the background, it really sets the mood. Unfortunately, the experience didn’t live up to the setting. We arrived around 10 a.m. and the place was nearly empty, yet after sitting down, we waited over 15 minutes with no service. Eventually, my fiancé had to go to the bar himself to place the order, while the waitress leaned casually on the counter, showing no intention of approaching us. When we were finally noticed, she half-heartedly apologized if we had been waiting, which we clearly had.The coffee was also disappointing; weak, flat, and definitely not Illy, despite the branded spoon. While the location and ambiance are lovely, what truly matters is service and quality. Sadly, with coffee and treatment like this, we won’t be coming back for breakfast or brunch. Our honest suggestion to the owners: the staff needs a serious attitude check to...
