Guesthouse Maja — Hotel in Dubrovnik

Firstly, the address given is the address of the agent, and not the property. The property is somewhere completely different.||Secondly, after spending 2 hours trying to find the place, with very poor instructions from the agent after NUMEROUS telephone calls, we discovered that the actual property is not a street address, its a very steep, quite narrow flight of stairs. Physical address 21 Frana Cale...||Thirdly, the view is great.... From one corner of the balcony. The rest of the view and balcony is covered by a Kiwi vine, so not really much to "view" at all.||||That being said the accommodation is ok. ||||Beds though are not the most comfortable, so my advice is either be very tired, or very drunk, otherwise your going to battle to get comfortable enough to sleep.||||For a group of friends or family, its reasonable and is not too far from old town, but the lack of info about the location and the steps was very annoying. Especially when you staying there for more than a day and have to haul luggage up and down these stairs. If you are unfit, be warned, you are going to battle. I'm pretty fit, but man, did my heart get...

After much research we opted for Maja ... the location itself is tricky to find, it's best to locate from the road above upon arrival with luggage ... getting a taxi from the airport we showed him the exact location on google maps and he dropped us just above ... expect to pay 250 kunas from the airport (£25 roughly) ... after a few steps / twists and turns we were greeted by the friendly faces of the owners ... they were tremendous!!! Couldn't do enough for us!! The room was cosy and had all the mod cons of home!! (Wifi, tv, shower, washing machine, toaster, towels, microwave, kettle, cutlery, right down to washing powder, salt and pepper, coffee and washing up liquid!) besides all this, THE VIEWS OF THE OLD TOWN ARE INCREDIBLE!! All from your own private garden lounger which of course comes with blankets and personal lighting!! This was perfect!!! There are plenty steps down to the old town tho ... easy on the way down but the journey back up does test your calf muscles a little ... a couple of breaks and the thought of the special room with the view will soon set you on your way ... we loved...

Guesthouse Maja has rooms at different locations in Dubrovnik. Ours were situated on Gornji Kono 16. The rooms can only be reached via some - concrete - flights of stairs. Fortunately our host was so friendly as to carry our two heavy suitcases down, without his help we would not have managed.||Our apartment consisted of a bed-sitting room, with kitched (fully equipped!), a somewhat damp bathroom and some private space in the hosts' private garden from which we had a splendid view of the old centre. The bathroom even boasts a washing machine. There is more than enough room in the closet to store all your beloningings.||The centre is not really far away; it can be reached via various flights of stairs (more than 400 steps). Going down took us 12 minutes. As we did not fancy going up we always took a taxi to get back.||Our hosts were very friendly and helpful.||Your car can be parked in the Guest House's private parking lot by the sige of the road...
