Update 7/8/25 in response to Management's reply:
I want to thank management for the reply. We were very grateful for the upgrade provided, however the first room was on the 1st floor, right cross from the elevators (noisy) with minimal view of the sea. We were more concerned about the noise from the elevators than the view and thats why opted out for a room without a view on the 4th floor instead. However, the room temperature according to an advisor hired by Hilton should be 18-20 celsius for proper sleep. The 22 degrees celcius quoted per the hotel's manager is an inaccurate Hilton standard and our room varied from 22-24 degrees which again was very uncomfortable and impacted our sleep for the 5 nights. (see article in Guardian quoting Hilton standards)
The manager is correct in that we did not make any complaints about housekeeping nor the bed. We did not want to be "those" guest complaining about many issues, however, a room without someone else's hair should be the standard for a hotel which considers itself a 5* property. While I appreciate the reply and explanations, I hope there will be some action plans internally to address the short comings during our stay. As I said, we plan to return to Dubrovnik in the near future and would like to stay loyal to Hilton but the issues need to be addressed by the team at the Hilton Imperial. Thank you for the reply!
Original review: We were very excited about our visit to Dubrovnik and stay at the Hilton Imperial Hotel. Having visited many Hilton properties throughout Europe and based off the reviews of other travelers, we had a lot of excitement for this hotel. Unfortunately, the actual experience failed to meet what others experienced and we expected. First we were assigned a room that did not meet our preferences, attempting to change the room with Ivan at the front desk was more difficult than it needed to be especially that initially we were told no other rooms were available. Room itself had a pretty view and a great balcony. However, the furniture in the room was in poor condition and the walls were dirty. The bed mattress was so hard, it made it very difficult to sleep on. Bathrooms are in need of a desperate update, it's as if they are from 30 years ago. Housekeeping also failed to properly clean the room, leaving someone else's hair in our room on several occasions. However the worst part of the room was the AC, we did not have proper cooling for 5 nights, which meant poor rest and just sweating at night. The hotel sent a tech several times but the issue was never resolved, and in the end we were told the AC is on a water system so the rooms just don't get very cool. Our room was about 22-23 cel at night, totally unacceptable.
There were some bright spots during our stay. The staff at breakfast, restaurant and bar were all excellent. They hustled the entire time and greeted every guest with a big smile. The executive lounge is a huge plus, it's nice to just go in and grab a drink and snack at all hours. Interestingly, it always felt like a refrigerator in there, something that could not be said for our room. The bellmen were also great, very helpful with bags and anything else you needed. Best party, is the hotels location, you are just a 5min walk from the old town walls, you cannot beat it.
This hotel has huge potential. It just needs some of the issues fixed for it to be truly a 5* property, at this point I would confidently say this is at max a 4* property, and thats a stretch considering the unacceptable AC in the rooms. I hope Hilton, or management will take this feedback to heart, and make some changes to improve things for future guests. We would love to stay here again, but will not do so until the issues we experienced are resolved...
Read moreWhat a lovely warm welcome to the Hilton in Dubrovnik in Croatia a :-) at the front desk from Marina who made everybody feel welcome and included staff and every member of our party in the conversation
She gave us all the information that we required without having to ask any questions and explained everything perfectly
The room was absolutely fabulous. We were in room 299 building B opposite the main annex.
The bedrooms are elegantly designed With a balcony Fully stocked minibar Champagne in the room And some welcome traditional Croatian sweet treats Thanks Hilton for this treat !! The bed was lovely and firm yet still soft, the pillows are the clever airy ones that seem to work for everyone
The furniture all lovely and cosy yet still a very spacious room.
Our room was really quiet you can’t hear the road or anyone above or below.
Tea and coffee facilities but no coffee machine.
Shower caps, slippers, nail file, shoe horn, show shine and gowns.
Ps the lights in the bathroom are gorgeous. There is also an illuminated magnifying light too.
Executives lounge Lovely addition to have access to the lounge Lots of drinks and soft drinks on tap with set times where food and premium drinks are served between 5 and 7 All the staff lovely and pleasant Especially Paula who was very cheery and helpful.
Safety and security Plenty of security and safety The entrance by car has a barrier entry With platinum member parking (3 spaces) right at the entrance.
The hotel is set on a one way road so beware taxi drivers may want to drop just a couple of minutes walk away (at piles entrance) as they don’t want to have to do the whole one way system to pick up the next ride.
Breakfast Fabulous breakfast in a lovely well lit re You can request omelettes poached eggs or eggs any type and pancakes. There is a massive variety at the breakfast buffet lots of freshly squeezed juices, flavours and yoghurts plenty of fresh fruit cereals lots of different types of bread and some lovely cakes and pastries my favourite being a chocolate twistthere was also a selection of chicken and pork sausages and a full English breakfast available very high-quality tasty breakfast lovely and brought out a great big pot of tea for 2 just for me which is fantastic. Read moreMy stay at the Hilton Imperial Dubrovnik was a great experience. The hotel’s location is its first triumph, situated just outside the Old Town’s walls, offering easy access to the labyrinth of history and culture right at my doorstep.
The culinary journey began each morning with a delightful breakfast buffet, where the standout was undoubtedly the American-style bacon, complemented by refreshing mimosas. While the absence of berries was a slight disappointment, it was a minor oversight in an otherwise diverse and satisfying selection.
The Hilton staff demonstrated exceptional service, particularly when it came to managing my room reservations. Due to the nature of my booking, which involved a combination of free room rewards and points, I was scheduled to stay in one room for two nights before switching to another for the third night. The front desk staff handled this complexity with grace and efficiency, ensuring that the transition was smooth and stress-free. They coordinated the move so well that my luggage was waiting for me in the new room, room 393, upon my return from a day out exploring. This seamless service allowed me to continue my adventures without interruption.
In my initial room, 391, I encountered some issues with intermittent Wi-Fi, which was somewhat frustrating. However, once I moved to room 393, the connectivity was much better.
The rooms themselves were a sanctuary of comfort, with effective air conditioning and a replenished supply of bottled water each day—a perk I believe was extended due to my Diamond member status.
The executive lounge access was a luxurious touch, offering a daily rotation of warm appetizers and cold hors d’oeuvres, alongside a comprehensive self-serve bar during the evening happy hour. The variety and quality of the offerings were impressive, ensuring that each visit to the lounge was a new delight.
Housekeeping services were discreet and efficient, maintaining the room impeccably and leaving sweet surprises of chocolates on the pillow each night. The small dinner I enjoyed at the hotel restaurant was a testament to the culinary standards of the establishment—delicious and well-presented.
While the standard room rate seems quite high, the value I received by redeeming points and utilizing free nights made my stay at the Hilton Imperial Dubrovnik feel like a...
