We chose to stay at Pupo Rooms during our journey for one night because it was close to the bus station and the port. The host was really welcoming and polite but this does little to detract us from our disappointment with the room. Despite booking a double, we were given two single beds pushed together. These kept separating to reveal the floor underneath the bed which had clearly not been cleaned or swept in a long time. The thick layer of dust, some toiletries litter and crumbs were really unpleasant. Additionally, when we left the room, ants came out from the skirting boards and took a great interest in our items. The bathroom was fine, but just that; the shower curtain was old and did not keep water inside the shower subsequently making the bathroom floor very wet. As well as this, the sink plughole was so clogged up that water drained from the sink basin incredibly slowly, making the brushing of teeth, the washing of faces and the filling of water bottles very difficult. That said, the beds were very comfortable and clean but the night's sleep was very poor because the room was only provided with a small desk fan (approximately 40 centimetres in diameter) to keep it cool. Because of its uselessness, we had to have the window open and to no surprise, we awoke with many bites on our legs. The window itself was problematic: when opening the curtains, the curtain rail continuously fell off its lugs which provided the added challenge of reattaching the whole set up. Admittedly, we did not take up any of these issues with the host because we were there for only one night and left very early. The room is described as 'budget', but at our price of €55 (412 kuna) for the experience, I'm not sure the description suits. Furthermore, the not-so-budget price had to be paid upfront in cash, because it could not be paid by card or over the internet.
Pupo Rooms has potential and I hope the really friendly host has more success at providing rooms that...
Read moreProbably the worst accommodation we have ever stayed in - an absolute dump: ||||Location: imagine the furthest point from the old city and it is Pupo Rooms. Parking on the public street is a nightmare, in a bit of a dodgy-looking area and then you have to climb a LOT of steps to reach this place ... ||||Staff: now imagine you're stressed because of reaching here. You would want a friendly, professional face, right? Ha! The receptionist is rude, unfriendly, unprofessional, unwelcoming and cocky. Not a 'hello' or smile in sight ... ||||Room: so you're stressed and now annoyed too. Let's take a breather in the room. TURN BACK! What a dump this accommodation is. Firstly, the room stinks with a strange smell coming from the bathroom. It's untidy, with the towels literally just thrown into the cupboard. Also, it's unclean - ants, spiders, spiderwebs, bits of rubbish left around, dirty, mouldy shower curtain, dirty toilet flush, strange markings on the floor and walls, centipedes crawling on the towels, no shower holder; I could go on. It's uncomfortable, dated and 'more than basic' - no air-conditioning and no amenities that they advertise such as toiletries or television. One of those places you and your partner turn to each other and say "we're leaving first thing in the morning". ||||The above is a comical description of the truth. I really would not recommend anyone to stay here, the owners and staff should be ashamed of themselves. Unfortunately in the tourist-ridden town of Dubrovnik, travellers seem to be exploited for our money; prices for everything are sky high and in order to get a fair price on accommodation, you're forced to stay in a place like this, far from where you actually want to be. For what you pay in taxi/bus/parking fees, you might as well stay in one of the other basic accommodations closer to...
Read moreFirst of all, I traveled in summer, which it makes everything more expensive, I paid 50 euros per night for double room, hotel price for a bad location ( more than 40 min walk from center) dirty and hot room without air condition.||||Not air condition in the room, terribly hot, the thing from the shower falls, dirty if you look carefully the room, old bathroom, terribly high steps and more than 40 minutes walk to the city center.||||They charged me more of what was written in my booking.||||At the second night and last night I found coackroach in the room, the window was open, and during my stay it was always closed due the hot, we used to sleep with ventilator. So the cockroach was there because of dirtiness and because they didn't clean anywhere, only change the sheets I guess, while trying to find the cockroach and killing I found how dirty was under and behind bed, and behind wardrobe.||||We found as well ´Cienpies¨, centipedes ( 100 feet insect) behind the wardrobe.||||I attach photos||||There is not 24 hour reception, so next day I explained in a polite way the situation, and the only thing he said was : " mmm is normal" and he tried to avoid me during the whole morning till we left.||I did not found any cockroach in the street in Croatia during my 7 days trip, is normal to have cockroach in streets in summer in Mediterranean, but i did not see any, but yes in the room.||||So what makes me angry, is that he even did not say sorry, at least sorry. Is a pity i had paid the night before otherwise i would have gone without paying.||||I wanted to write comment on booking.com, but because already passed more than 20 days after my stay I can not, so I write here in...
