Restoran Zrinski — Restaurant in Dubrovnik

Pleasant area outside the back of this hotel to eat. Not busy but most people seemed to be ordering the seafood platter. As my husband doesn't eat fish ordered the seafood risotto. He had a spicy pizza and we also ordered seasonal salad to share. After being served realised that we had been given a chicken salad. It was covered liberally in mayonnaise out of a squirty bottle. Not a thing but the waitress was only around when serving so decided to go with it. The pizza was good but the risotto was awful. Clearly not fresh fish, small pieces of brown, unidentifiable (seafood?) I left it on the side and ate the rice. When asked if everything was OK, when clearing our dishes, I expressed my opinion and was told she would tell the chef. No further action. To top it all when paying the bill realised that the chicken salad was advertised as Caesar salad. Can't believe any chef would serve a Caesar salad with mayonnaise. Avoid unless you want a pizza. We stopped by Zrinski for lunch around 1 PM with the family and chose to sit indoors. It was a warm day, and after walking for about 20 minutes, we were feeling a bit hot — but there was a nice breeze and some AC, which helped. The waitress was kind enough to bring us a big pitcher of water with ice right away, which we really appreciated!

We shared a cheese plate to start (really good!), and I had the grilled squid as my main. It was perfectly cooked and came with a garlic, olive oil, and parsley dip that I used for every bite — so good. It also came with cabbage and potatoes on the side, which worked really well with the dish.

I must say I’m very shocked with the amount of positive reviews that I have seen for this place especially in regards to the service. I don’t know if it’s because me and my sisters were people of colour or just the staff that were in that day but it felt very unwelcoming. We got some stares from the staff initially and then the menus were kind of just thrown on the table before the waitress left, it was all very uncomfortable. We noticed we were also the only table that wasn’t given a bread basket on arrival and the only words spoken to us were to take our order. The food is very mid but it is cheap so I guess it depends what you’re looking for and whether you’re white or not lol overall...
