My husband and I were in Dubrovnik for part of our honeymoon, staying at an apartment nearby and we ended up coming here TWICE for dinner during our 5 day stay. The waitress we had both times, Dragana, was a GEM and took excellent care of us. She was really honest about the menu and what she thought would be best and everything we ordered was delicious. Our first time we started with the carpaccio and for our mains, I had the sea bass and my husband had the Adriatic bonito. We shared the panna cotta for dessert. The second time, we started with the prosciutto and cheese plate. For mains, my husband (who had a bite of mine last time) ordered the sea bass and I had the goulash which was so good it made me emotional. We were too happily stuffed for dessert the second time around but we did have a lovely conversation with our waitress and ended up buying a bottle of the wine I was drinking to take back to the apartment. I’ve never felt moved to leave a review before but this really was just a lovely experience, especially compared to the overwhelming/slightly stuffy nature of...
Read moreWe came here during off peak season. As it was off peak we were the only guests in the restaurant. Staff were very friendly and accommodating. Food was amazing and locally sourced. Their can be see in the video played in the screens dotted around the restaurant. The quality of food was amazing as it was fresh and locally sourced. The specials change and at times are not in the menu, as ingredients may or may not be available in the markets during the morning. This family run restaurant is very refreshing with its menu. We were very impressed that we ran out of another restaurant we had a booking for to come back here with no regrets. At that time we were offered calamari as the special which was not on the menu, we were informed that it was freshly caught that morning. The restaurant decor is very detailed. We were told that this was an important aspect to the owners. Even the glasses and placemats we liked. This has helped us remember our visit to Dubrovnik with...
Read moreThis may be petty, but as nice as this place is, they have no fans or circulation inside, and refuse to serve tap water. They even start with empty water glasses on the table, just to tease you, but nope.
If you are too hot, or just thirsty, and don't want to get dehydrated, you have to buy a nice glass bottle of water for a premium. I get that this is how it is in some places, but especially where heat is such an issue, and especially where alcohol is served, and especially where there isn't good ventilation/circulation, not offering tap water doesn't sit right with me.
1 star, excellent other aspects put it at 2, but genuinely I'm so distracted by the sheer stubbornness of this, that I can't stomach giving any more than 2. I just want a glass water and not feel like I'm drinking money to stay alive.
It's a 5 star place if you bring a water bottle
Edit: it was a pleasantly cool evening, and by the end of the meal I...
